If you don't like the rules, go elsewhere.

I'm wondering, why does bungie warn and sometimes ban people who make threads that violate such little rules like all caps title or pointless thread. How does people making threads that don't entirely agree with bungie's "thread standards" bother anyone. if you don't like them, then just don't go onto the thread. also, what exactly is the big problem with spamming?

You're always so sarcastic and such a jerk. He may not understand quite yet how it works and the reasoning behind such strict rules. At least he took the time to politely ask why. The least you could do is not act like an ass and scare a potential intelligent poster away. Most people with a problem do just leave, then we're left with buckets of scum that you and your mods have to clean up. At least he could set a good example; at least he didn't post "OMG Y R BUNGIE RETART!???"

1) Because it happens all the time, and it's just annoying. There's no reason to have an all caps thread. Most of the time it's stupid anyways.
2) Again, because it's annoying and stupid. There's no reason for it.
3) Spamming is just junk. Nothing more. Ninja's have to clean up the clutter.

Because the public forums are supposed to be a place of intelligent discussion of intelligent topics.
I say 'supposed to' because that's not what it is. People like McAdam here go around, merrily screwing that up.
Plus, if you post a thread title in all caps, most people will generally think little of you and your thread, entering not with the intention to discuss your chosen topic, but to flame you for being a short-bus riding lobotomised monkey who, by bizarre chance, happens to look exactly like a human.
okay, so bungie.net will warn/ban you for saying noob or posting a thread in all caps, but you can be an -blam!- and compare people to lobotomised monkeys and make fun of people with mental handicaps and not get blacklisted. wow bungie, your logic of discipline is so overwhelmingly just!

I dont think you fully comprehend all that you read.

Short version: There are rules, if you break them you get banned. Its not hard to understand. This process works regardless of what you may personally deem a bannable offense.

There are some talented members here at Bungie.net. If my post is confusing, perhaps we can find someone to make a flash version of my post in cartoon form.

Actually, it's how Achronos deals with people. And it works, too. If the OP can't take a "It's our rules, we made them, if you don't like them, don't come here." then he can't take much around here, and this clearly isn't the kind of place he wants to be in, where the Overlord is a complete jerk to people who seem to be very unaware of how things work.

I wouldn't necessarily use the word "Intelligent" just yet. Caps are annoying to the majority of people. This guy disagrees. Fine, he has a right to, but he's pretty much ignoring the fact that most of us don't like to see all-caps titles. And if that doesn't get you to realize why Achronos gave such a blunt, straightforward response, maybe this will?

"also, what exactly is the big problem with spamming?"

He can't be serious. For a moment, I thought I was smelling a troll.

B.net forum members are like an angry mob, if you don't spank them once in a while they will run amuck and reek havoc. Spamming and all caps creates more spamming and all caps, then pretty soon half the posts are flame wars with all caps (oh wait, it's already like that).

But you get my drift. Most people can't help themselves, so you have to make them help themselves. A wise man once said "If there is no level of expectation, then your environment for learning is lost. " *

If thats the case, I'm gonna come to YOUR house and start yelling and screaming while throwing junk and crap all over the place.
Since you don't mind, you, won't try to kick me out or call the cops.

You wouldn't let me do that, why would the mods/ninjas/Employees of bungie allow that?

He wasn't being sarcastic. he honestly and truly meant it. Just because he doesn't cover his words in rainbows and fairy dust doesn't mean he's a jerk either. I'd rather be told something right away then have a person add a bunch of unneeded information.

Also, he probably doesn't care what you think about him.

Being on-topic is not my style. I prefer to be around the topic, beside it, or all up in the topics grill.

You make it sound like the moderators are very strict... If you ask me, some threads they let go shouldn't have been alive for more than 2 minutes. But to directly respond to your post: If the mods let all those types of threads go then the forums would be a terrible place. They'd be cluttered with nonsense and it'd be ten time worse than it is now. Heck, the only thing wrong now is random threads that look like blogs and other thread discussing something that 50 other people have already made a thread about. I swear, bungie should devote an entire weekly update that gives a tutorial to their search system because it's obviously too complex for a majority of people I come across on here...

Perhaps its not so much cleaning up but rather being forced to use that old dirty grey mop in the back. You know the one I'm talking about, the one that doesn't actually clean and absorb the filth but rather just pushes and smears it around. You can't blame the admins though. They aren't the ones peeing on the floor. Or...something like that.

Because stupid people need to be put into place.

Proper forum etiquette is a nice thing to have and sometimes that curve needs to be enforced. If you'd like to look at nothing more than walls of pointless text and countless threads of spam... feel free to send the Moderators plane tickets to some exotic island... oh, lots of money for drinks too.

Who the HELL are you?! So many mods Idk about.

A for the "What a matter with spam" part. ou should smack yourself for asking that.

Honestly, compared to other forums I have visited, the mods here are incredibly patient and fair. Because of their devotion to Bungie and these forums, they do a tremendous job while carrying out what essentially amounts to thankless volunteer work. [/quote]are you kidding me! the moderators here are so damn strict! i went to gametrailers.com and they were waaaaaaay less strict than they are here! they warn me for the stupidest reasons! for example, i got a ban warning for putting up a random forum on the flood, which i thought was meant for random threads, because my thread just asked "yes or no?" with no question. yes, it was pointless, but who the hell cares! i was bored and it was funny.

Because it was pointless and annoying to everyone but you. The point of a forum is the enjoyment and discussion of the many, not that of an individual prick.

I am basing my opinion of Achronos off many of his posts. I let him know when I disagree quite a bit, because it is my right to. I know he doesn't care, but that doesn't stop me. I speak what I think, after all that is why I came here.

If Achronos is of the opinion that "the rules are the rules so bite me" then there is no need to post that. Everyone, including the OP knows the rules. The OP just wanted to ask about one of them; so simply saying "you don't like it then leave" is stupid.

If you are going to take the time to post Achronos then at least put some professionalism behind it. Your posts are often childish, defensive blurps of jerkdom. It would have been simpler to not post at all and let the members flame him like we all know they will. You joining in with your harsh tone of carelessness isn't needed. I'm not saying I'm innocent. I have flamed people that annoy me, but I would expect the one that manages the craziness of this site would have a tougher skin. At least tough enough to realize when a post is actually needed or if it's just fueling a fire.

The same goes for anyone else really. I pick on Achronos because I feel like I expect more from the "web admin" for a site as famous as Bungie.net. Just like your mommies used to say "If you can't say anything nice then don't say -blam!-." Or something like that :)

Achronos has every right to say. How would you like it if you had to explain things multiple times a week? I doubt it'd be much fun. The OP asked a stupid question. Simple enough. Achronos gave a response to said question.
