Does anyone besides me mourn the loss of the Halo we saw previewed in 1999? (look at my Avatar if you have no idea what i mean). It began as a real-time strategy game (like Myth only with a Horseshoe Crab Tank) but by Mac world 99' it had evolved into a 3rd person shooter. In an old issue of Computer Gaming World (go get a subscription, its a great magazine) had an article back in 1999 that was entitled "5 Games the Will Change Gaming Forever." In this articel, they said that Halo was the best bet to change gaming forever. I suppose it has; however, it was still in it's first person shooter from back then. I love Halo as much as anyone else, (I've spent countless hours playing it as well as just messing with the engine and drawing pictures by collecting vehicles and veiwing them from an elevated possition) but part of me really wishes that It had remained what it was back in 1999, before the X-box was developed. I have a 3 minute preview from, I beleive Mac World 1999, that shows Halo in its 3rd person form saved on my computer. Everytime I watch that preview a little part of me dies because it looked like such a unique game that would be incredable to play. If you can't find the vid, then search for screenshots because it looked really cool. I'm happy with Halo as it is; however, there is always that part of me that wishes it was still the 3rd person shooter it once was.
