Lattyware.

Well, be thankful to those who got pacakges.

Helped to solve Server 4, but being in the UK means I get nothing. We always tend to get screwed over, not only do we pay twice as much for the game, we also never get anything like this. I must admit, I did hold up some hope.

Still, again, it's not to Bungie's control, I get that.

Still gonna complain a bit though - I have to vent somehow :P

Just finished reading through this and I must say, epic thread.

I'm VERY proud of not only the community but the moderators for how both sides were handling things. I'm glad to see that there was some actual diplomacy being displayed and both sides seemed to be actually having an intelligent discussion.

I suppose I should figure out a better subject line. I didn't mean to sound so self depricating. I don't feel that I was hasty, or wrong for this in any way. I am just trying to do my part in helping fix the whole mess. I asked, you guys backed me up, and now it seems as though we shall recieve. These forums are not based on a democracy. It's a little closer to an oligarchy. Generally, we are at the mercy of those that run the forums. I was very careful to create a topic, and an O.P., and subsequenty posts, that were solid enough to prevent a lock on the topic. The ninjas, and Bungie employees aren't all that bad about locking up reasonable threads, but you can imagine how easily this could have been done wrong. I stepped up to Bungie within their own world, and had they wanted, they could have slapped me down. Also, lets face it, if they had decided to ignore the problem alltogether, there really wouldn't have been that much of a negative impact for them.

I am not suggesting that this thread was indeed the catalyst that got the packages out. It may have been, the timing is coincidental. It is just as likely, that my timing was coincidental with their actions. Maybe, they were just getting it worked out at about the same time. Believe what you want, I won't try to persuade one way or the other.

The fact of the matter is: I think that I should do what I can to help make them look good again in the eyes of the people who read this thread. Those of us involved, or knowledgable about this entire situation (most of the people in this thread) will have their own opinions, and probably have a better handle on what happened than most. I will not lean one way or another publicly. It looks like we are going to get exactly what we wanted, and Bungie either decided to make it happen, or at the very least, must have done some frantic work with, or against the parties that screwed it up in the first place.

I will indeed change my subject line and disclaimer. Bungie did not initially make the mistake, and they must have worked in some capacity to correct it. There are comments in this thread that reflect poorly upon Bungie, and considering the circumstances, I feel that I should do what I can to help polish their reputation.

Don't worry, if it somehow falls through, my tone will quickly change. As it stands, there is no need for animosity, and currently, I feel that humility is in order, if for no other reason, to serve as thanks.

You know, I might be oversimplifying the situation, but from someone who has been totally disconnected from the ARG since Server 5 was unlocked, but try this.

I got my nice neat little (shirtless, grr.) package today like everyone else. For those playing at home, pick up your package, and look on the right side of the label. It essentially said "Do not deliver until Oct 25." Now, what is the significance of this date? One that, being such a short time, has changed my life so much. One month since Halo 3 was released. Not about one, not almost one, but EXACTLY one month.

Maybe the last three will be sent out in intervals like that? If so, I totally want a badass Server 5 package. I really don't care how badass, as long as it has the shirt. My life is dictated through awesome tee-shirts.

I honestly don't even know what any of you are talking about but if Bungie didn't handle it what can they do? Nothing, so just let it be.

And the Shadow fell upon the Land, and the World was riven stone from stone. The oceans fled, and the mountains were swallowed up, and the nations were scattered to the eight corners of the World. The moon was blood, and the sun was as ashes. The seas boiled, and the living envied the dead. All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Now the question is:
Why do people who claim to have never opened a server get a package?

I suppose this reply serves as a bump. It could also be considered an update, but is really in response to Qbix.

Several members from CI, and ABO have recieved packages, many (I'm not sure about all of them) are registered on both forums. This is great news. I think that it's important to note the differences between the packages recieved. Server's one and two included a blue T-shirt, and a key code for limited edition IRIS themed XBL gamerpics among other things. These are the only two items that the two sets of packages had in common, but all server one, and two packages contained these two items. So far, none of the new packages contain either one of these. I find this strange, particularly with the gamerpic code, which is cheap, and easy to send. Also, the new packages have been recieved by many people that did not actually participate in the unlocking of a server. On top of this anomaly, the items in the packages are seemingly random. I cannot completely confirm anything, as I have not recieved anything (I don't care though, I'm so happy that you other guys are getting some stuff, and this is what I really wanted: to see the whole thing come through.). It is unconfirmed, but I am lead to believe that the return address on the packages is the same as the old ones. Despite this fact, and in light of the others, I have my own idea of what is happening now.

I want to note, that a few (really, only a few) have complained that the items in the new packages are not as "cool" as the ones in the first two sets. Considering what I think is happening, I hope that these complaints will stop completely. This hasn't been much of a problem, but it should be nonexistant. Considering the highly varied items within the packages, and the seemingly random recipients (all of which are at least part of an IRIS related group), I think that this is a pretty stong suggestion that Bungie themselves have picked up the ball that Microsoft dropped. M$ hosted many of the sites involved with the ARG, and I suspect, they are the ones with all the acurate shipping information, and lists of the parties that unlocked servers. The items in the first two packages were almost intirely IRIS related, and the new packages have very few IRIS related items in them. This all suggests to me that Bungie has taken it upon themselves to straighten this all out as best they can. That would mean that they are having to do a lot of work, and spend a lot more money than they should have initially. Those of you who feel that your package is not up to par with the earlier ones should consider what this means. Bungie cares so much about this, that they must be really going out of their way to appease us. I am personally very impressed.

I have no solid foundation for my suspicions, only a few strange coincidences, or lack there of. I may be completely wrong about this, but either way:

Big, BIG props Bungie!

I completely agree with the OP and Foman. I opened server 3 and never received a "prize". Like the OP stated it is not that I felt that I deserved a "Prize" just that I was promised one and was never rewarded.

Please read the whole thread there, bud. It should be coming. We are not here to complain any longer, and I never meant for this thread to be a -blam!-, er fuss fest. I'm not trying to flame you here, but you obviously didn't read the whole thread. Stuff is coming, and Bungie (if noone else) is doing their part.

Edit: Btw, nice to see ya!

Wow, epic thread indeed. I must say I'm glad the story turned out the way it did. I must say that this revived my faith in Bungie's community support. I was beggining to think that more and more people were falling on deaf ears. Turns out it is just the n00bs.

  • 11.16.2007 11:43 PM PDT

noobs!? Where? lol.
Anyways like are we talking about the IRIS thing because yeah that was a bit ago. You should have brought that up when Bungie and MS were in bed maybe then it would work. But yeah if you want the stuff go on ebay and buy it. Bungies awesome and they'll stay that way forever they are not the people who rush through a game like EA , VALVe , etc. Halo 3 , 2 , and 1 have more easter eggs then I can count and easter eggs alone show how much time they put into the game. So do the fans! If Halo games weren't so good do you think people will take the time to find easter eggs? No.
BUNGIE FTW!
