So this is the reason some sounds in the game are uncomfortably loud? Playing with headphones is like taking a gamble with your hearing. Some of the dialog is too quiet, and then a battle cruiser will fly nearby and deafen you. You'd think that advanced headgear will filter and normalize sound. :P

But the audio in the game is quite well done. And it's good to see that, after this was mentioned in the podcast, a little more light is shone on it.

Please Bungie, redeem yourself w/ Reach.
Halo 2 and 3 both stink out loud.
In the immortal words of Mr Horse: Halo 2? No sir, didn't like it.

Man I can see the sarcasm dripping from this post...

I agree, considering they just participated in "the biggest media event ever" or whatever exclamation they used you'd think they'd maybe say a word or two about all the issues people are having. Been a few weeks now and radio silence...

Glad to hear they are using audio VSTs in the game though. Whoa.

I use Waves in my recording studio and can say without a doubt they are the best in the business. Bar none. I lust deeply for the L3.

Anyway, Halo 3 is fantastic. On every front. I do wish you could adjust varying volumes though. I love the time, wit, and sheer creativity invested in the AI dialogues and wish I could enjoy them more. Unfortunately, without raising the volume to a ridiculously high (and marriage threatening) volume this is tough.

Still, that's a rather retarded complaint considering that $60 and a Gold account will give me a couple of years worth of world class entertainment.

Oni was an amazing game that I played years ago on my PC... admittedly I had no idea who Bungie was... nor did I care. It was just a riveting game.

Keep doing it Bungie. You guys really take things to a new level!!

I hear no waves, I hear no bass, I "feel" nothing from the audio. Totally weak. Go fire a Pulse Rifle or SMG in HL2 and see the difference, it's no comparison.

If that's what you think, then they really do have you brainwashed. Kind of like Bose and its -blam!- products, yet people keep buying it and buying it due to their successful marketing.

So is this the reason that 5.1 SS sounds so badly balanced?

I have heard louder wet farts than the guns in Halo 3 and most of the time the speech sounds like everyone's mumblimg!

Did someone just 'forget' that there is a centre channel on 5.1, because it certainly seems like it!

(Before it's suggested: yes my 360 has the right sound settings and yes I'd do know how to set up a home cinema system)

Please fix it.

They said something along the lines of "it's too complicated to use the center channel for weapons". Total Bull-blam!-. It's really pathetic actually, compared to the hype and what else is out there. I don't see them giving the same lame excuses, because THEY DON'T HAVE TO.
