Sorry if this has been posted before, but im new and I dont think there is a topi search?

Do you guys think halo 2 or even halo should have class based multiplayer, e.g. sniper class - comes with sniper rifle, pistol 4 plasma nades.

Even if you dont think its a good idea, maybe have it as an option, i think it would allow new weapons to be put into halo 2's multiplayer. For instance some people say they would like to have a plasma sword in multiplayer, but I think anyone with a plasma sword is going to get shot easily, as they have to be very close to use the sword. But if the multiplayer had class based games, then you could have a melee class for example, this class would be armed with a plasma sword - 50% more health than a normal class, and would spawn with an overshield straight away.

Dont get me wrong I like to be able to just run around picking up any gunI want but this could add something more to the multiplayer. It would give players a feeling that they are working as a team, as each class would have its own roll, also it would give players a sense of individuality as each class has its own weapons combinations and starts with different power ups.

Here are some ideas for classes. (Just some i thought up whilst typing this)

Infiltrator/ Flag thief : -
Weapons: 4 plasma nades, shotgun
Power up's: Active camoflauge, motion cloak (Just an idea, it sops your motion from registering unless you enter a vehicle or pick up the flag.)

Engineer
Weapons: 4 Frag grenades, battle rifle, pistol
Items: wrench (if vehicles are destructible the wrench lets engineer fix them)
power ups: Ammo respawn ( Ever 30 seconds the engineers ammo increases up to a certain limit.)

Just some of my ideas. I know this may take away the true halo feeling, or make halo seem to arcadey like battlefield 1942 or Team Fortress. But like I said before some people may like it at least as an option to try out.

By the way this is my first post as i just signed up today, so hey all :P

It would add moer overall gameplay to the game as well as some interesting scenarios. I like your idea. I have an idea for the single player mode in halo 2. How about you get to pick the kind weapons that your marines will use before you start a new stage. (This may seem like a dumb idea) This will give you the advantage on small stages and large stages as you can pick snipers for the large and shotguns for the small. Another cool idea is: Before each mission of stage, you can pick each marine that you want on the stage. Lets say you have a marine taht survives the whole level, it would be cool to see the marine become more skilled in battle and more capable in battle situations. This would be amazing gameplay.

JUST AN IDEA

Absolutely not. This is Halo, remember, not Half-life. I want Bungie to keep Halo essentially the same, with only a few additions. In my opinion, the more complex it gets, the less appealing it gets. Halo was so great, because it was so simple, yet deep, for those who cared to look.

Escape will make me God.

It has been done with so many other games and mods. What makes Halo unique is that there is a strategy based on what role you choose to play at any given time. You choose your destiny and are not limited to one particular class. Want to be a flag runner? Grab that active camo, a shotgun, and some grenades and head to the base! Want to be a medic? How about you simply provide some backup for your teammates? They'll live longer.

I guess I'm just not very fond of class-based FPS's.

I agree that Halo has in itself a class-based system i think that out does all other fps's, class-based included.

I dont think that they should have classes but you should be able to pick up items that would let you do the roles of different classes. Say instead of having a second weapon you pick up a medkit instead or you could even have iteams that would make it so you cant carry anything else like a deployable machine gun that you would drop on the ground a use. I think this might somehow be in the game because in the Halo 2 FAQ they say Master Chief will be getting new weapons and items (not exact quote).

You have a good idea... but it's been done so many times before in so many games.. it get's old after a while.

I think Halo should stick to what it has already... nothing need's to be really changed.

Class based... there's an idea.

I suppose it might be good as an option for osme people, but i don't really like the idea... i wouldn't mind it as long as there was still the normal mode.

Bad idea, it would limit some players ability.
