What's funny about the whole melee issue is that in the end, to avoid frustration, you just have to get better at Halo! I mean, it comes down to you being more reliant on your gun and taking the effort to go for the headshot spray, so that by the time you get into melee range, you've dished out more hurt than the other guy. And heres the thing: If you DO go for those headshots, you'll probably gun your opponent down well before the melee is even needed. Go ahead, try it. Stand about 20 feet away from another player and dump an AR clip right into his face. Watch how fast he drops. Yeah, its frustrating to know that you should have had that crazy melee kill in the hallway, that you earned it. But the thing is, those were the old rules. In H3, you really DIDN'T earn it. The other guy was more accurate and skillfull in his weapon discharge, you meleed a person while his friend was also hurting you, or you blindly took more splash damage than you should have. That's really all there is to it.
doesn't matter how much damn splash damage i took, or the fact i am being double teamed. I always get head shots, everytime a shoot. It's only fair that IF I DROP HIS SHIELDS THEN HIT HIM FIRST, HE DIES!! The issue is that this occurs, but his split second later melee kills me instead which is UNFAIR.
Maybe you don't fight at close range too often, but in ranked team slayer games there is ALWAYS close quater fighting. Being able to quickly drop shields and melee for a kill is a necessity.
Get used to it? This is a game, it should be fair. Save your evolutiuon BS for science class. Rules should be fair.
Here's the thing though. You know that this new rule exists. And since it applies to everyone, since you both benefit and suffer from it, it IS fair. When you enter into a midrange fight, you shouldnt close the distance and melee until you know for sure that you did more damage to him than he did to you. The correct move is to back up, get cover and regain advantage. If you jump the gun, then its your own neck on the line. I melee all the time, it's one of my favorite things to do. But I try only to use it when I know that it will win according to the new, fair rules.
P.S. please don't bring my low exp into this. My internet connection is gnarly and disconnects me from approx. 50 percent of the games I join. Suffice to say, I cancelled it and will be recieving the hotness soon.
