I don't mean to stress "elitism" with this, but I feel if current and new members could strive to aquire (and later on work to not lose) a little emblem in their signiture from, say...Frankie, we'd see a noticable inprovement in forum behavior.
It's a good idea for the online community. But then you get the occasional guy who brags about it when everyone has the emblem. Still something to take into consideration. It would work really well with the online trust system.

That's why you allow people to lose them. I'm sure the opposite side of the community would have a good laguh at someone who brags about their medal, then subsequently gets it taken away because.
That's true. I do like the idea as well. Other than the occasional bragger, I really cannot see a flaw. But Where would the medal go? Like next to your forum name?

In my opinion, the signiture pop-out would work best. Out of the way, but still visible to anyone.

There appears to be sufficient amount of room beneath the "last posted" stat there. You could fit several medals there, if you wanted...

For Example:
Community Award (Blue Septigon symbol): Given out anonymously at will, for doing something worthy. The basic of medals given by any one at or above moderator status.
The Achronos Society (Gold Septigon symbol): Doing something very significant for the community (i.e. One One Seven's Networking guide, The Moderator Finder program, etc.) Given out only when actions deem necessary by the man himself.
The Pirate's Bounty (Treasure Chest): A few-times-a-month medal given out by the upper-echelon of Bungie Studios to various members. (This'd ultimately become a who-knows-who kinda thing, I imagine).
The Ninja Award (Ninja's head or something): Once a week or a couple times a month, the moderators'll convene in the HFCS and choose a member who deserves said medal.

This idea, in its most basic form, is a three-tiered system. You've got your lower Community Award for good behavior and such, your mid-layer Nija and Pirate awards for more significant activity, and your top-of-the-class [/i]Achronos Society[/i] achievement for only the most superb individuals who'd warrant it.

Of course, more could be added. I'm sure Frankie'd give out the Pirate's Bounty award so often, that he'd need his own medal to prevent it form becoming less-desireable.

Edit: As an after-thought, you'd need seven medals. I don't think I need to explain myself for this one.

Additionally, to maintain some form of checks-and-balances, all moderators would be eligible to remove any of the medals from someone's possessions. They've shown more than adequate responsibility to have such an ability.

I can already imagine my message box being filled with these;
Cud u giv me ninja awrd? I make god threds.
he, why i no comunity award? ppl respondd to my thread!

Not to bring down the idea, I just suspect that to happen.

You say tomato; I say potato.

I think there is a bigger problem in the screen shot forum with bumping. Why not use a auto lock/warning/ban system that dishes out punishment when a double or triple post happens?

The moderators aren't strict at all, and the ones that try to go Shishka make themselves look like idiots and people that don't know the rules themselves. *cough*evilcam*cough*

The only mods that were good was Shishka, Makavelifan4life, Ghandi 2, Achilles, and dmbfan09

3/5 of them aren't here 1 is dead but Achilles is left standing :/

Haha. Why am I under the impression that you've been blacklisted by Evilcam prior to us having this conversation?

You've got to spend effort to save effort. There's no magic, cure-all solution to any problem. The problem, and resultingly the solution, is a matter of personal preference. Are you more interested in replying "You don't have it because you haven't earned it." to those PM's for a month, two tops, or dealing with...this...for an indefinate amount of time?

What are you more interested in?

No I haven't actually. But I've seen many get blacklisted just by having a different opinion than his and other nonsense.

I'm reluctant to agree with your adjective choice, still. There's an entire unseen world of PM's that you or I don't have access to. No one outside of Evilcam knows full well why those individuals were blacklisted.

I like the idea. However, I think it would work better if Achronos implemented prometheus's idea into the trust system. That would make it so when your trust becomes high enough, you receive the award. Therefore, people would still have to earn their medals. But you guys would not be flooded with PM's because you guys were not choosing awards. The computer system would be giving out the awards.

What's a MakaVeli4LIfe1?
He was last active in March this year, according to the mod stalker. I think all he did was lock a thread.
Hmmm

Actually he last posted in March. His account was last active in july http://www.bungie.net/Account/Profile.aspx?uid=3875. You have to look underneath his name for last activity. Just thought you should know.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

What was your first account?

EDIT: Elmicker was insulting your grammar, not your spelling.

Likely story =P

In any case, I think the mods do a fine job. If they felt harsher penalties were in order, they'd administer them. And Maka gave me my first blacklist. He didn't even remember why.

Yay, pointlessly attacking other people's spelling and grammatical habits for the win.

I'm sure there was a point somewhere along the line. Don't be so negative!

It's not that the rules are not being enforced hard enough, it's the fact that new members are here daily. There are only about 20 active moderators, a few of which are actual Bungie employees. They have been doing an exceptional job, especially since Halo 3 was released. I applaud their efforts, I just wish they were a bit more active. I do think they deserve a little break though.
