If the forums stay like this long enough, the penalty for breaking the rules will be me visiting your house, scooping your heart out with a spoon

But why a spoon?

Because the juice leaks out between the tines of a fork.

*rolls eyes* Sheeesh!
And because a spoon is dull, it hurts more, you twit!

I love Alan Rickman, but he was better in Die Hard.

Foman got it right.

You, sir, are fired!

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I wish Achronos would post on this matter,
I'm sitting here waiting, just getting fatter.
'Course his claims just often point out folly,
sometimes....I wish he'd just be more jolly.

Edit: Christ, I'm bored. Sorry 'bout that, folks....

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Alright then, as an alternative to the use of alternate accounts, how about simply turning off the coloured text of the moderators, and turning it back on when they actually moderate something?

For example, all the moderator posts in this thread would be in the normal bland grey text, admittedly accompanied by the "Forum Moderator" title and a custom avatar, but not as blatantly obvious as it is now with their salmon text. Then, for example, if they lock a thread or post a warning, they can post in their shiny glowing text to make it clear that that post was made in an official capacity. I suppose my aim with these 2 suggestions has been to reintegrate moderators as community members, rather than as they are now, seperate and slightly above (maybe not in their eyes, but you only have to stroll through the h3 forum or the flood to see it). I've seen this pulled off very well in a couple of communities, but obviously none of them as large as here, so again i imagine there's some problems with it that i'm too hungry to consider right now. I'll probably post on this again after you lot have picked my idea apart (again :P).

Not a bad idea, but I don't think it can work. Or, at least, it would require quite a bit of work to redo the way color text works here. As it is, a member's text does not stay the same color as it was when it was posted. Such as, if you go back and look at a post that was made by, say, Gods Prophet, 2 years ago, his text will be salmon, even though he wasn't a moderator at that point. And if you look at something that a former moderator wrote, it will be have the normal member color, even if they were a mod when they wrote it. So in order for that idea to work, there would need to be a way to have text color linked to a post instead of a member.

hmm... maybe it could work though. The moderators could be given the ability to use color tags, and have the tag restricted to one color. That would require the mods to remember to use it, though. And we all know how lazy this bunch is. :\

the line sounded familiar, but I couldn't place it. So I improvised.

And failed.

Hang your head in shame.

This board, for all its new fangled snazziness is still just ideal science, and the way ideal science handles colour is use of [colour] tags, members used to be able to use them. Look waaaaay back in the flood and you'll see certain members doing things like posting in all limegreen or posting all in pink, which is why we lost the ability to use it. From what i can see, all Achronos has done has set the board to surround all of the moderator posts with [colour=salmon] tags. I imagine (bearing in mind i might be ridiculously wrong, i have an inkling it has something to do with access priveleges) it wouldn't be too difficult to change that "if moderator" decision to "if moderator AND moderator action tickbox ticked".

Also, seeing as I am finishing my final tests, I am insanely stressed already, so I'm sort of tapping into that in order to pull the reigns in on the forum a little more. I will be done in a week or two and you will see me become a little more Yoozel-ish... stumbling into threads, throwing up in The Underground and banning people for being "a total buzz-kill".

I figured that's why you were so busy and uncharacteristically not talkative on MSN. Sorry for the late reply; I've been out of town (funeral) and finding webbernetz in and around Mexico is worse than finding webbernetz in Australia.

Also, most members can avoid bans regardless of how strict the moderators are being by just using common sense. You were all born with it, but it tends to lose it's way from your brain to your fingertips.

This^^ has got to be one of the best explinations for stupidity I have seen in a while. I also thought that this summed it up pretty good too. I found it on someones signature, but I won't say who, I will say thank you.

"FOR YOUR OWN PROTECTION: Ensure brain is engaged before putting keyboard into gear."

If people would do that there would be no need to crackdown on the rule breakers because there wouldn't be any.

That is probably exactly why we have standard white. Blacklist is red because red is scientifically the most noticed color on the spectrum (Plus it is evil). Why bungie is yellow and not like Rainbow or something sweet I don't know. However, I'm sure Super Users have the right to change the color of their text. But choose not to use it.
