What do you think? I have a friend who's a Halo fan like me, but he beleives MC is a cyborg. I think he's human. I keep pointing out things such as how he bleeds if he dies, etc, but he just won't give in.

So, do you all think he's cyborg or human?

ok theres not really any argument here, just read the halo books and u got answer.
the master chief is a human who is genetically enhanced. everything about him was enhanced and chemically altered to make him stronger and faster. there is nothing "robotic" about him except his armor.
the only way someone might say hes a cyborg is because of the way he is "one" with his armor, and his body has been altered greatly. and if you remember the first mission in the campaign, it says "cyborgs and AI first"

Ok. You are right and wrong. The master chief HAS been chemically enhanced, but he also has some "robotic" pieces in him. Captain Keyes has neural implants, why can't the chief... ... ... OH right, he does!!!

Then prove it. Anyway, Master Chief is a Cyborg, which is a human with robotic parts, or at least from what I've heard.

Now that i think about it it depends on the exact meaning of cyborg, it can mean something like a robot that looks human (for example the Terminator) which would mean the master cheif isnt a cyborg since hes mosltly human.
But cyborg could also mean, like some of you have said, part human and part robot, making the mc a cyborg.

Well if you read the books, you would see that the only main machine part on him is his armor, he has regular organs, blood, same things as me and you.

Okay. Here are two definitions I found:

*cyborg - A human who has certain physiological processes aided or controlled by mechanical or electronic devices.*

*cyborg - a human being whose body has been taken over in whole or in part by electromechanical devices; "a cyborg is a cybernetic organism.*

Does that help anyone?

I believe the more relevant of the two definitions would most probably be the first one.

Um.. you can be Human and Cyborg at the same time...

  • 12.15.2004 9:05 AM PDT

Ach! Was ist los?

The SPARTAN II's are cyborgs, as they have titanium bone reinforcements and neural circuit implants among their various augmentations.

--Sgt. Smith is also a cyborg, in a manner of speaking.

YOU -blam!-S HE IS A HUMAN. THE GENETICALLY ENHANCED HIM, READ THE BOOKS. HIS ARMOR IS JUST SPECIAL AROMOR THAT IS CALLED MJOLNIR, ITS A SUIT. HIS BODY IS THAT OF A HUMAN, JUST A LOT BROADER DUE TO GENETIC MUSCLE ENHANCEMENT AND QUICKER REFLEX ENHANCING

I said Cyborg, but hear me out. He is a Cybornetic Human. He is human yes so he bleads thinks and dies. But your forgeting what Cyborg means. It is a mix of both. Granted MC is a little more human than Cyborg but it tells you in the game Halo 1. The grunt screams, "Bad Cyborg!" Sorry to cast the swaying vote. : (

i dont think the question itself was worded right, becuase a cyborg IS part human, which means he IS human WITH "robotic" implants or genetic enhancments.

Therefor i think we can all agree that he is definetly human yet definetly has some kind of implantation of some sort. This means he is in between the two, and what is it called when your in between human and robot, CYBORG.

I orignally voted human, which is right, but he can also be called a cyborg becuase of the enhancments he got during his training. Think of it this way, he is human, with a "sub-type" of cyborg.

He hasta have the suit be "part" of him, or else how could the Spartins be able to control them? They haveta be connected with the nerves or sumthing for them to control them, and once you connect them I think it would hurt a whole lot to rip them out.. (take off the suit)
