THE NERD MESSIAH
Today, I was cruising the forums with my sweet pimped out DELL (that's right Microsoft: Red Dog 6 is a PC) with Google Chrome under the hood (girls think my edginess is sexy). After a quick glance at the top topics on the Bungie.net Halo 3 Forum one in particular jumps out at me immediately:
Subject: Where in the world is Master Chief?. An extensive scientific theory.
Now obviously the true definitions of the terms "scientific" and "theory" are lost on the author of this post, because I couldn't find a single experiment in the whole damn rambling article. If you were trying to be nice and ignore the fact that HALO is an imaginary universe you might be able to go out on a limb and call this a HYPOTHESIS, because it obviously hasn't been tested and is therefore unverifiable. But, I digress.
Wondering how deep this rabbit hole of nerdy psuedo-science goes, I start poking around the net for further theories, excuse me... hypotheses, and I run right smack into this same post everywhere I look! You can find it again here:

And those are just a few!
I decide to take a different tack and start turning up random postings that point to...(hold your breath)... Master Chief as Jesus!
This one discusses Master Chief returning to save humanity:

And here some poor well intentioned soul actually got out his Bible and looked for ways that John 117 could be interpreted through scripture:

Bungie has given their fans tons of great plot material to work with, and like the proverbial chimps banging away at typewriters, they managed to build a freaking Cathedral of St. John (117) out of it.
Don't get me wrong guys, I love Halo. It was a contributing factor in my first divorce (well almost divorce, but I dodged the bullet...whew...). I think that the plot is strong and the game play stronger. Like many other Halo lovers I would personally contribute money to finance a Halo movie if Bungie would open their ears (and wallets) and let some studio pick up the rights. But, Bungie needs to step in somewhere and tell these folks that a STORY is a STORY. Stop pouring over your astronomical charts of the universe trying to triangulate MC's (we're so tight that we're on an initials only basis) position from the last cut scene of Halo 3.
Frank O'Conner, one of the leaders of the Halo franchise, did point out that MC might be returning in future games:

But probably not to absolve you of your sins and save you from the Anti-Chief.
Red Dog 6 out.
