You have a Killing Frenzy in this thread now. :P
Anyway, at the OP. There is not picture of the Marathon Com set to compare to the one in Halo, so that is just your word.
The Infection photograph from IRIS server 2 is of a Flood infected planet being observed in IR and near-IR frequencies. I do not know why there are pictures of Mars above them, but to me that indicates that the Flood made it to Mars then. The Planet being observed must be Mars if the IR profiles match. However, that does not necessarily mean that it points to Marathon. Mars also exists in Halo, and is actually a fully terraformed and populated planet in Halo.
In short, you may have convinced me that the planet in the IRIS server is the same as Mars, but how does this Mars equal the one that is found in Marathon and not Halo?
As for whether John is floating towards Mars or not:
The position of the Legendary ending star and the high IR energy object in the IRIS picture are similar, but the Legendary planet cannot be Mars because our Star is not Blue. So, IRIS may equal Mars, but Mars does not equal the Legendary Planet. If IRIS equals the Legendary Planet, then IRIS cannot be Mars. Why?
Because the Legendary Planets star is Blue, whereas Sol is not. Looking at the IRIS picture, it strongly suggests Mars (the IR profiles are Mars) so the high energy IR object will be Sol, which is not a Blue star, so it cannot be LP. Therefore, John cannot be at Mars.
Really, you have only convinced me that the planet in IRIS may be in fact Mars, and not really anything that suggests Mars in Marathon other than the fact that LP = Mars where Master Chief is, which also happens to be where the protagonist of Marathon has his adventure. Mars =/= LP, so this is shattered. Even if LP = Mars, it still would not do anything, because it just sounds like a co-incidence. It could be Mars in Doctor Who, which is Terra-formed and inhabited at some point, or Mars in Halo (More logical), which is the same.
