Subject: Where in the world is Master Chief? An Extensive Scientific Theory.

I think that the planet in the cutscene is the covenant homeworld or the forerunner planet. Any other ideas? because if you do i would love to hear them. WHERE IS MASTER CHIEF!

High Charity was the Covenant homeworld, look how that ended up - completely infected by the Gravemind and then destroyed by John, Cortana and Thel. Beyond that, there is no Covenant homeworld because the Covenant is a conglomeration of aliens from different planets.

Has nobody here bothered reading the Terminals? Mendicant Bias is sending John to the Forerunners as his "example of atonement". So it's the place the Forerunners exiled themselves to outside the Orion Arm.

Survive until the red dawn rises, when we have spilled the blood of our enemies.

all you need to know is that he is dead. He wouldnt survive 200 years. Plus his time is in the 26th century he is not even born yet! (metaphorically of course)

Er... you do know he's in cryo, right? He can't age, tissue and organic matter doesn't decay because cryo chambers are designed to preserve the occupant.

"If you want to test a man's character, give him power" -- Abraham Lincoln

I have another theory. The master chief arrived at the Forerunner homeplanet. If you examine the surface, there are numerous forerunner symbols of the "legendary planet". Also the fact that it appears purely metallic with the sheen light indicates it to be either a dyson sphere or shield word of some sort. It also follows the logic of the halo series, which is "Full Circle". The Master Chief, the reclaimer, is being sent to reclaim the forerunner homeworld. The forerunners ARE the human's anscestors. Not all of them died, and my guess is they are trapped in the dyson sphere or hiding out. Like the humans, the forerunners faced extinction from the flood and another yet-to-be-named enemy, and I think some of that fight is still going on. Why wouldn't he end up at the forerunner homeplanet? It makes sense.

I still stand with my previous theory, MC is somewhere between Earth and The ark.

You also said "Preserve". Mc would eveantually die in a few hundred years. I doubt the flood got on board as well. It is quite possible that the legendary planet is the Unggoy homeworld, seeing as the athmosphere is blue, like neptune (WHich is composed of methane). The grunt homeworld has a methane athmosphere.

Oh I'm sure he's somewhere between Earth and the Ark, the Forerunners weren't adept at travelling beyond the Milky Way - the Ark was the very pinnacle of their ability.

Why would the Legendary planet be Balaho on the hunch that the surroundings of the planet look similar to the way it's described? Have you noticed that the planet is completely metallic when Balaho looks more like Earth?

I have another theory about the micro-dyson sphere from the Ghosts of onyx.
If the UNSC found the sphere and found out that halsey and the spartans were inside, could they not steal a covenant ship (they are much more accurate with slipspace transitions)
and transfer through slipspace inside the sphere seeing as there is more than enough room inside to hold several Covie cruisers.
and pick them up?

No because the Dyson Sphere can only be reached through the Antechamber portal. If conventional ships could make it into a Dyson Sphere in slipspace then the Forerunners creating them in the first place would have been pointless if the Flood could simply steal a Forerunner ship and go to it in slipspace.

Why are you still reading this?

(Replying to an extremely old post)
No, I know of the copyrighting and all that, but Marathon is interweaved with Halo. If they can still make Marathons, they could hint as to what happened to John without actually breaking the copyrights (an ancient soldier floated through space and came upon [???] where he [???]), and though it wouldn't really be counted as canon because Microsoft could easily do something else with it, it'd at least close that story for now.
But aain, because of Marathon's relations to Halo, it's also probably owned by Microsoft.

Pffft! Screw this thread! *Does 180 spin and moon walks out of thread*

Id like to say youve got a CRAZY imagination.

1. Bungie wont make any new Halo games. You couldnt of known it back then but thats not the point. The point is to prove you wrong.

2.If you watch Halo Legends (the one about Cortana explaining about the Forerunners demise) you can see the Forerunners home planet has the EXACT, EXACT same marking(s) on the surface just like in H3. Again you couldnt have know.

3.Hood says "Its hard to believe hes dead" or whatever because they THINK HE IS DEAD.

4.Your theory is insane. 343 or Bungie writers wouldnt do anything like that. If they DID think like that, Halo, right now, would be COMPLETLY different.

Its a cool idea but... Its wrong.

  • 05.28.2011 2:24 PM PDT

(\___/)
(="_"=) ------hay baby how you doing

this theory is good but now is well...kinda impossible considering bungie arnt making the next halo game. and i highly doubt microsoft will go down the marathon rout

2. Halo cryptum states that their homeworld is highly highly irradiated due to an engineering experiment. Thus the planet is just a dull rock in the orion complex. The planet in legends was most likely the capital.

3. He thinks he is dead. many still think chief is just missing years after.

For those of you talking about the "covenant homeworld" keep in mind that there is more than one. At least one for each race within the covenant. High charity was the closest thing there was to a covenant homeworld, and it's been completely destroyed.

No there isn't.

The covenant homeworld was High Charity, Each of the races that make up the covenant have their own homeworlds

That's what I'm saying. There is no covenant homeworld any more. There are only the planets left that their individual races came from, like Sanghelios, Balaho, or wherever the brutes or prophets are from. I doubt it is any of these however.

The Prophets haven't had a homeworld for centuries, after the Reformists fled in the Keyship their homeworld's sun went supernova. The San'Shyuum are near extinction.

To be fair we probably shouldn't write off the Stoics just yet. They may have evacuated to some extent. I mean, they must have known that their star was about to go boom. The process of stellar death takes millions of years.

Unless they were attacked and had their star collapsed by an aggressor, then it would be rather instant.

It is also quite possible he didn't even land on the planet. He could have floated around the planet and got flung out by his speed.

Imagine the Covenant rediscovering the Stoic San'Shyuum :P, I wonder what the reaction would be?
