If this is true then. Well I played the demo for marathon durundal and it blew so the question asked. Will the next one suck? Hopefully not. Hopefully they will keep the same FPS tactic as they did in H3 and you wont be fighting magic dudes with spears, cause that was just retarded.

Ok, it's brilliant what you say. Obviously, since the same creators made the two games, their stories MIGHT sound alike or BE alike. But BUNGIE said they are NOT in the same universe. Now, this may raise the q. "They never admit anything so why would they admit that?" Well, my q. to you is, "Why WOULD they lie?" Give me ONE reason as to why they would lie.

Now, after reading my own post, after a while i began to realize something.

Maybe just maybe, they said they aren't tied to each other because they plan on making another trilogy(?) OMG it makes all the sense in the world! Their will be a "re-make(?)" of MARATHON! Tell me what you think!

The OP's theory and this make it all possible.

thats good your third picture reminds me off the south park with the serial killer psychics "do you see" "DO YOU SEE"
anyways makes sense but wouldnt mars be in the halo universe since we fought on earth and if he is in the marathon universe why is mars in it

Exactly, and the planet we see in the legendary cut scene is close by to where the Ark was since the opening shot of that blue nebula is in both cut scenes, meaning this can't be Mars because that would mean the Ark was right near Mars, also close by the Earth, but hey, I guess humans never wondered wtf that big ass object was nearby Mars right?

PHAIL

You're forgetting that halo 3 ends 100 years before the marathon games take place.

FAIL

Which means what you see in the final legendary cutscene is mars in the marathon universe before they are done making the ship.

You FAIL. Marathon and Halo are in seperate universes like the creator of this topic said. MC got sent to the Marathon universe and his half of the ship encountered the Marathon WHILE it was on its voyage to Tau Ceti. So the ending of Halo 3 is still before Marathon 1 starts. Also it seems that the way you are talking you are putting down people who think they are in the same universe. There are 2 many flaws for them to be in the same universe.

WOW. How long did it take for you to come up with this? Becuase it would take me YEARS of study to even guess half of it.

I'm not sure. But I think that Bungie only said that Halo and Marathon took place in seperate universes. This theory of the MC being shot out into another universe or dimension I think makes the Halo ---> Marathon thing possible.

"Were it so easy..."
The Arbiter, Halo 3

Honestly, I think he's not all that far from the Ark. After-all, Cortana stated that "the explosion did a number on the Ark" which means she would had to have visual confirmation, as she wouldn't just make a prediction without evidence. They had to be within probe range.

We have no idea how long the Chief was knocked out. It could have been only a few hours, or possibly a few days.

I say they aren't that far from the Ark. That's just me though.

The whole theory hinges on the fact that the back half of the ship was not just merely cut in half, but that it was flung into an alternate universe. That seems pretty far out there even for Halo. But it is the best theory i have heard.

The date on that memorial was March 3, 2553, less than a year after the events of the Halo story arc. They think he's dead because they probably think the other half of the ship was destroyed, or they couldn't find him.

Even if it is Marathon ship, there a few flaws with Master Chief coming in contact with it.

1. All of the people on Marathon are in stasis, frozen, because the trip was about 300 years from Marathons start to Tau Ceti star system. How would Chief be able to land on it?
2. If Chief crashes on Marathon, it would most likely affect Marathon's path, and maybe even break the stasis of the people on the ship, causing them to die before they even reach the star system, which is unlikely.
3. If you are suggesting they are already in the star system, it cannot be true, due to the fact that Bungie already said time travel wouldn't be incorporated into the game.

So...piecing how Master Chief even lands on Marathon, would be hard to do. And Bungie wouldn't change their story, because they are always elaborate and they stick to their story.

Heres what i think happened to MC

MC is sent into the Marathon Universe and is in cryo for a long time and he dies in it. Cortana dies because she can not live that long. Now the only way the Security guard can be MC if MC got rebuilt from himself and other dead soldier's body parts (since the marathon cyborgs were created that way). So his dead body is taken in by the Marathon (the marathon at this time is still on its voyage to Tau Ceti). They use MC and other dead soldiers body parts to create the 10th battleroid (name of marathon cyborgs). The 10th cyborg (MC reborn) is now implanted Fake memories and then put into cryo where the other 9 battleroids are. That is why the 10th cyborg does not know he is a cyborg in Marathon 1 because he had been implanted a FAKE LIFE in his brain which made him belive he had a father and was born natuarlly. It is possable that MC's armour stopped working because of a long time in cryo. So they gave the 10th cyborg battleroid armour (which i think is a paralel universe version of the Halo armour because of its similarities). Mabye Bungie will make another Marathon game which will take place after Marathon Infinity in which the 10th cyborg finds out he used to be the MC.

LOL HOW ARE YOU DOING THIS WHEN YOU'VE ONLY BEAT THE GAME ON NORMAL??

  • 10.21.2007 9:07 PM PDT

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

The most plausible theory I've seen so far, but what does Bungie gain by sticking the MC by Mars in the Marathon timeline? (Keeping in mind that the planet in the cutscene IS NOT THE MARATHON BECAUSE THE MARATHON LOOKS LIKE A POTATO) It's well after the Marathon launched but also well before the events of Marathon actually take place, which makes it somewhat neat but really useless (unless you are suggesting time travel as well, which makes it more implausible and confusing).

You don't have to beat the game on legendary to know what happened, its all over the internet.

the only way I can see MC interacting with the Marathon ship is only if he gets there after the events of the game. Otherwise, the Marathon series would have plot holes from the time that MC 'arrives.'

You are wrong. A bunch of the crew were put into cryo when the Marathon took off to Tau Ceti but there were still other colonists who lived on the ship. You should know that because the colonists in Marathon 1 are called BOB's which means Born On Board. That means people were living a normal life on the Marathon (since it is a colony ship) and had babies which grew up to be BOB's. Also it took more then 300 years for the Marathon to reach Tau Ceti so MC was picked up during the voyage and was turned into the 10th battleroid then put back into cryo for the rest of the voyage.

The original poster's theory is relying on time travel which Bungie said they will not have. So its not the marathon, anyway it looks like a potato astroid not a sphere. I think the mars pictures are another marathon easter egg.

Proven to not be sensible in anyway.

1. Marathon is based on a space ship made from the moon of mars diemos (sp?). Niether of the moons of Mars are in ANY way round. this is proven in a screen shot of the Marathon ship. The dyson sphere at the end of legendary is CLEARLY round.

http://resurrection.bungie.org/fanimages/big/TheShip.jpg

(i cant seem to find a pic of the dyson sphere at the end, anyone have one for me?)

its round.

also, the marathon symbols are all over the game, but bungie mixes a LOT of symbology with everything they do. nothing new there, Se7en

2. techonolgies dont ever lap. one of the universes should have teleportation and slip space technology (marathon) but it doesnt. (maybe both should)

3. if they didnt make the portal and the ship got cut in half, it would NOT of been teleported. once its completely in it is good. there for if it collapsed half way through, only half the ship would make it back to earth.

someone please prove me wrong. PLEASE.

for some reason i felt like i was reading what would parallel a 9/11 conspiracy for the halo universe... lol

but it sounds like you put a lot of time into this, so congrats. Personally, i don't think they intended any sort of story elements in the bonus cinematic, but rather just some sort of sign that master chief was alive and that they didn't completely end halo as we know it, just the current story arc.

nice try, but you are wrong.

He backed up his theory with evidence, and you did not. Why should anyone listen to you?

actually i just saw something that pretty much proves the marathon theory wrong(unless marathon has water on it)

http://www.lifethoughts.com/photos/images/935.jpg is a picture of earthen sunrise

planet at end of halo 3*spoiler?*

its a water planet with lots of water, sunlight is reflecting off the water molecules and making a blue atmospherey thing.

here(sorry about the bad handwritting...mspaint...) i circled a dark, land part. If you watch the legendary ending closely, you can make out land masses and a big lighter spot that seems to reflect the sunlight rather than absorb it like the darker parts. you might have to strain your eyes a bit....anyways, as you can tell, its a planet with water on it. lots of water.

did marathon have water on it?

Chief's half of the ship was not teleported anywhere I don't think... it was left on the same side of the portal because it didn't make it through.
