Also on the unknown planet at the end of Halo 3 you can see a faint Marathon symbol on the planet. If you have played marathon you would know that symbol symbolized the Marathon Colony Ship. Why would bungie put another easter egg at the end of Halo 3 unless they put the marathon symbol on the unknown planet for a reason and also to give us a clue.

Some people think that MB sent master chief back into time

Im assuming by this you are refering to My Theory here. For those who haven't read it, please do and feel free to comment there and here again. Also, note the possible connections discusssed throughout the topics. It provides evidence for a time travel theory almost no one considered and could bring some light to the discussion at hand.

Also, I will not arue the fact that the image is indeed the Mars thermal image and you make a strong case for that with good evidence. However, I would suggest that Bungie simply found a picture to use for thier IRIS campaign rather than make a model, heat it up, and take a picture, or even do it digitally. But, like I said, you provide a strong point for that picture in the planet being Mars and it possibly is.

If you could supply an overlay of the Infestion picture with the Legendary ending that could only help your case more.

But you have to consider something. The picture is called INFESTION which, I surmised, is a referance to a thermal image of how fast the infestation is growing on the planet. If this is true than it means the Flood are on Mars but the flood don't exsist in Marathon so therefore it is not the Marathon universe.

No theory is 100% possable but out of all the Halo-Marathon connections theorys i say this is the best one.

Ah and my biggest point of all.

Did you not consider that Master Chief being sent back is what has set the future in motion already leading to what we know as Halo? If it happened in the past, then the future would already be altered. He would have already exsisted in the past and hence, created the future we know; all through his actions.

The dyson sphere at the end of legendary is CLEARLY round.

someone please prove me wrong. PLEASE.

I'm pretty sure people live on the interiors of Dyson spheres. a Dyson sphere is the size of a planetary orbit, not a planet. the whole point of a dyson sphere is to build a 'super-planet' that actually encompases the sun. (that means the sun is on the inside)Dyson spheres encompas the sun to collect as close to 100% of the energy output as possible, so that it can be converted and used.

Thats not 100% proof, tis a lie.
Why do people INSIST on trying to link Halo to marathon?

Actually the outside of the Dyson Sphere is only a few meters across while the inside is equal to Earth's orbit around the sun. But either way, yes... it is not the Dyson Sphere at the end of legendary.

youre right. it proves my theory right. think of it: everyone lives IN a dyson sphere, think of how big it would be, the sq m/km and the entire outside un obstructed to be littered with defense.

WOW! you must have really good taste if you are looking at my sig! if thats true try this link! tasty

I own these fools!

totally wrong!!!! if the arbiter come back to our universe and MC went to marathon universe at the same place then why does arby crash land on earth( seen in the cut scene) and MC is drifting in space. keep in mind that the portal was a two way portal and it was inside of earths atmosphere.
a more plausible explanation is that the collapsing portal did not have enough energy to bring MC's half of the ship all the way back to earth, and he is still in our galaxy somewhere.

it is possible that this story precedes marathon, but I'm not sure how that would work out.

nice try, but you are wrong.

He backed up his theory with evidence, and you did not. Why should anyone listen to you?

actually i just saw something that pretty much proves the marathon theory wrong(unless marathon has water on it)

http://www.lifethoughts.com/photos/images/935.jpg is a picture of earthen sunrise

planet at end of halo 3*spoiler?*

its a water planet with lots of water, sunlight is reflecting off the water molecules and making a blue atmospherey thing.

here(sorry about the bad handwritting...mspaint...) i circled a dark, land part. If you watch the legendary ending closely, you can make out land masses and a big lighter spot that seems to reflect the sunlight rather than absorb it like the darker parts. you might have to strain your eyes a bit....anyways, as you can tell, its a planet with water on it. lots of water.

did marathon have water on it?

read that please

Its about 3 meters across... you should go back and read it again.

OK, but your theory still doesn't address why the ark is so close to mars, when the ark is actually outside the milky way.

Ha Ha Ha. Bungie is probley pissing in there paints if any of them are reading this. I found it odd after that bungie dude who said the Marathon guy was the same as MC left Bungie after he said that? Did he say something that he wasnt supposed to so he got fired by the other Bungie people? And after that Bungie kept denying connections between the 2 games as if they were trying to cover something up.

Umm what? His theory has nothing to do with the Ark being close to Mars... no one has even suggested such a thing. You do realize that MC made it part way through the portal right?

If the Chief were "stuck" in the portal, he'd be in Slipspace. From the novels, we know that Slipspace is a sort of chaotic non-dimension where the laws of physics do not apply as one would expect (although the chaos is stabilised somewhat near a large mass, such as a starship). The Chief was not in any such place. The planet seen in the Legendary ending has a Death-Star-like surface. It's not Mars or a parallel universe's Mars or whatever else you're trying to assert that is. In all probability, it's Onyx, which is most certainly part of the Halo universe. Even that, however, is not a certainty.

There's no 100% proof of anything here. That would make it fact. At best, I'd call this theory an over-thought, under-informed shot in the dark.

I'm 100% positive that MC is in a cryotube. Outside of that, you'll just have to wait until the next game!

--Commodus: I wonder, did you friend smile at his own death?
--Maximus: You should know. He was you father.

You guys are all wrong, that planet is obviously the planet where all the transformers come from. DUH. That is how masterchief gains the ability to turn into a semi-truck and becomes optimus prime, and eventually saves the earth again, but with Shiloh as his co-star.

Actaully, he said Master Chief is derived from the Marathon man but they are two totally seperate characters.

Slipstream space is a "dimension" all it's own, and any foreign object in it (upon collapse of an established path/stream/portal) would merely "eject" the object into its space/dimension of origin. It's an interesting theory indeed, but from what I've deduced on my own, through careful examination of Slipstream "physics" in the books, and other data and ideas, I really just cant agree with your theory. But I must say, it's a damn good one, kudos. I'm more partial to the Forerunner homeworld theory, or a more recent "Atlantis" theory a friend of mine came up with.

note: MC and the main dude from Marathon arent connected in other than thet they are "blank slates" that the player can connect with on their own lvl. MC isnt a Cyborg, but Marathon Man (what we should prbly call him from now on) is a cyborg. So it is impossible for them to be the same character.

STOP SAYING ITS ONYX. If you read the 4th Halo book you would know that ONYX was destroyed.

It isn't Onyx. Onyx is exsists as a sphere 3 meter in diameter surrounded by trillions of sentinals. This has been talked about several times already. Please read all the posts before posting yourself. Also, please make sure you are not misinformed on the information you are presenting,
