look. its a water planet with islands. The lights are probably solar pannels or something to that degree reflecting off the sunlight. no cybertron and definitly no onyx. no marahton either.

Yes, Onyx was destroyed (the terra part of it anyways) and its sentinel lattice work flew off to some other place. So Onyx is a failed theory every time.

Is there really gravity or does the earth just suck?

ok, courtesy of dictionary.com: what is a universe? "the totality of known or supposed objects and phenomena throughout space"
I'd liek to put an emphasis on the 'totality' part. that means, that when Bungie said the universes are separate, they meant that as far as Halo is concerned, Marathon doesnt exist. ever. period.

So, as well-put together as this theory is, it was false before it was conceived.

as for the whole teleportation thoery, let's use occam's razor-the simplest option is ususally the correct one.
slipstream travel, per the Haloverse does not involve time travel. Mars' moons were fine and well when we left them in the Halo story arc, so none of them has been turned into a massive ship and certainly, none of them have traveled beyond the rim of our own galaxy. so, that idea is out.

while i havent seen the theories on the portal to/from the Ark, we have to assume its semi-linear. based on what weve seen of the portal-it lead them straight to the Ark and it lead the Arbiter striaight back to Earth-we can assume, safely, that MC is somewhere between the Ark and our Galaxy.

But what is that damn thing in the leg ending?!
zomg. thats the point. bungie wants to keep their community alive and begging for answers from another game, so they leave things like this open. were not supposed to know. my guess is that they wanted some amazing theories of what happens to MC to come out as machinima or such stuff.

i know i brought this up in another topic but would you really want to see the halo story end? hell no. you like thinking and hoping in the back of your mind, just as much as i do, that theres gonna be some amazing and epic story to it all. to have someone-anyone-other than ourselves tell it would put to those dreams to death.

its not that i hate all theories but if yall are as intelligent as you come across, you know there's not enough evidence to fully support either side of the argument, and thats exactly what bungie wants-to extend the life of our passion for their games. all of these potential links to their other games entice gamers to go get those other games, furthering them towards their goal of world domination.

duh : )

I own these fools!

Thats not 100% proof, tis a lie.
Why do people INSIST on trying to link Halo to marathon?

there are a lot of parallels, but they can easily be explained away.

1.) marathon was created long before halo by a small but creative group of programmer and game designers.

2.) halo was then thown together (with a lot of changes during development) for Microsoft's new console, Microsoft had just bought out bungie studios and they wanted halo ready for the launch of the xbox. so bungie took a lot of stuff from there earlier creations and incorperated them into the game we so love today. they never knew that halo ce would become this huge hit with so many people in love with the story. so some things from marathon are in the halo universe.

3.) bungie (unwittingly)* created a great segway from marathon to halo to marathon.

*or not so unwitting?

You should read more of peoples theories on time travel.... sometimes they think about what the opposing side is going to say and provide an answer for it.

I will still stick to the theory that Marathon and Halo are in Paralel universes.

Here is another theroy

Mabey the Jjaro in Marathon ARE the forerunners in the halo universe. The Jjaro in Marathon used the technology that allows someone to go to another universe (shown in Marathon Infinity). So they use this technology and go to the halo universe and populate it and call themselves the forerunners. So somehow the forerunners (the Jjaro) used that same technology to send MC to the Marathon Universe so he can board the Marathon before it arrives at Tau Ceti.

I hate everything, but it's not my fault.

Ha Ha Ha. Bungie is probley pissing in there paints if any of them are reading this. I found it odd after that bungie dude who said the Marathon guy was the same as MC left Bungie after he said that? Did he say something that he wasnt supposed to so he got fired by the other Bungie people? And after that Bungie kept denying connections between the 2 games as if they were trying to cover something up.

Dude. Dude. Dude. Alex Seropian co-founded Bungie. He is The Man, and nobody can tell him what to do. He meant spiritually, as far as I know, and Bungie stressed that they were in separate universes because people were confused by his statements.

The Marathon does not have water on its exterior. It travelled in space for 300 years, liquid water would not be able to exist (not to mention being an egregious waste of precious water).

An interesting theory, but Bungie already said that the Halo and Marathon games are not connected. At all.

They only added Marathon references to Halo as an "easter egg" or "gift" to the old Marathon players.

Its obvious everyone wants another Halo game, I do, but unfortunately Halo does not end where Marathon begins.

Its wishful thinking. Sometimes people will find a connection where there is none simply because they are so desperate to want one.

Its very simple, Bungie has already stated numerous times the 2 games are not connected. The Halo universe and Marathon universe are not "alternate" universes to each other, nor are they "parallel universes" or anything else.

SO THIS IS WHY BUNGIE PUT OUT MARATHON ON XBLA! Maybe they wanted us to get familiar with the game before WE play H3 to understand the final video after the credits. HA theory proven!

well, from reading all the books etc, its never mentioned time travel, but i got pretty confused with the crystal in First Strike, so i pretty much glazed over that whole chapter of it.

and i actually started typing when the thread was starting page 3 so i didnt see your link until after id typed all that.
sorry :P about to start reading your thoery tho.

It seems like you think Bungie cant lie to us. If they were planning on connecting the 2 games together and someone asked them if the 2 games are related. The would tell that person a lie to hide there secret.

Except that it was stated MC and the MM are not the same, despite the MM being the "inspiration" for MC. And I never see MC in the Marathon games. Also, if Joe Stanton dislikes time travel, I find it hard to believe he would like teleporting between universes as much,

Teleporting between universes is not time travel. They also used the teleporting between universes idea in Marathon Infinity.

nice try, but you are wrong.

He backed up his theory with evidence, and you did not. Why should anyone listen to you?

actually i just saw something that pretty much proves the marathon theory wrong(unless marathon has water on it)

http://www.lifethoughts.com/photos/images/935.jpg is a picture of earthen sunrise

planet at end of halo 3*spoiler?*

its a water planet with lots of water, sunlight is reflecting off the water molecules and making a blue atmospherey thing.

here(sorry about the bad handwritting...mspaint...) i circled a dark, land part. If you watch the legendary ending closely, you can make out land masses and a big lighter spot that seems to reflect the sunlight rather than absorb it like the darker parts. you might have to strain your eyes a bit....anyways, as you can tell, its a planet with water on it. lots of water.

did marathon have water on it?

read that please

^ ^ I agree - it's not marathon. BUT, just for the people that think it is Mars...

The earthen sunrise shows a blue horizon, as does the planet in the legendary cut scene, but look at the sun itself...it is a warmer yellow/orange color because, well, that's the color of our sun, and the sun or "flash" in the legendary cut scene is blue, a much hotter sun than ours.
