nice try, but you are wrong.

He backed up his theory with evidence, and you did not. Why should anyone listen to you?

actually i just saw something that pretty much proves the marathon theory wrong(unless marathon has water on it)

http://www.lifethoughts.com/photos/images/935.jpg is a picture of earthen sunrise

planet at end of halo 3*spoiler?*

its a water planet with lots of water, sunlight is reflecting off the water molecules and making a blue atmospherey thing.

here(sorry about the bad handwritting...mspaint...) i circled a dark, land part. If you watch the legendary ending closely, you can make out land masses and a big lighter spot that seems to reflect the sunlight rather than absorb it like the darker parts. you might have to strain your eyes a bit....anyways, as you can tell, its a planet with water on it. lots of water.

did marathon have water on it?

read that please

^ ^ I agree - it's not marathon. BUT, just for the people that think it is Mars...

The earthen sunrise shows a blue horizon, as does the planet in the legendary cut scene, but look at the sun itself...it is a warmer yellow/orange color because, well, that's the color of our sun, and the sun or "flash" in the legendary cut scene is blue, a much hotter sun than ours.

exactly. :)

An interesting theory, but Bungie already said that the Halo and Marathon games are not connected. At all.

They only added Marathon references to Halo as an "easter egg" or "gift" to the old Marathon players.

Its obvious everyone wants another Halo game, I do, but unfortunately Halo does not end where Marathon begins.

Its wishful thinking. Sometimes people will find a connection where there is none simply because they are so desperate to want one.

Its very simple, Bungie has already stated numerous times the 2 games are not connected. The Halo universe and Marathon universe are not "alternate" universes to each other, nor are they "parallel universes" or anything else.

It seems like you think Bungie cant lie to us. If they were planning on connecting the 2 games together and someone asked them if the 2 games are related. The would tell that person a lie to hide there secret.

Yes because if it WAS true it would all be spoiled (HALO4?)

I like the way this dude thinks. Its just commen sense to not tell someone that Marathon is not related to Halo so they can get people off of there backs so they can make a game and a plot which will show the connections between Marathon and Halo.

I forgot about one thing that the ending does not talk about.

The UNSC does not acknowledge the death of a Spartan, to anyone, not even the Covenant.

They do this to keep up the legend that the UNSC Spartans are unbeatable, indestructible soldiers, to give Humanity hope during the war.

There is also a saying IRL the Military has about this: "Did you see the body? If there is no body, then he isn't dead"

So Lord Hood probably said what he did to the Arbiter to "keep up appearances". He acted sad that the MC was dead, which is procedure for the UNSC.

I will still stick to the theory that Marathon and Halo are in Paralel universes.

Here is another theroy

Mabey the Jjaro in Marathon ARE the forerunners in the halo universe. The Jjaro in Marathon used the technology that allows someone to go to another universe (shown in Marathon Infinity). So they use this technology and go to the halo universe and populate it and call themselves the forerunners. So somehow the forerunners (the Jjaro) used that same technology to send MC to the Marathon Universe so he can board the Marathon before it arrives at Tau Ceti.

Except that it was stated MC and the MM are not the same, despite the MM being the "inspiration" for MC. And I never see MC in the Marathon games. Also, if Joe Stanton dislikes time travel, I find it hard to believe he would like teleporting between universes as much,

Teleporting between universes is not time travel. They also used the teleporting between universes idea in Marathon Infinity.

Obviosuly you misread my statement. I didn't say time travel and teleporting between universes was the same. I said if time travel is frowned upon because it is "cheezy:", then teleporting between universes to try and connect two seperate story lines is even worse and deserves a beating. Of course I guess its all opinion so maybe Joes crazier than we all though and thinks that its a great idea despite the insanity of disliking time travel for a story line while accepting teleporting between universes. Although I do not concede my point!

Apparently someone was able to find the filename for the scene at the end and this is what they found...

objects\cinematics\matte_paintings\130ld_forerunner_planet\ci nematics\130ld_legendary\130ld_legendary

I haven't had time to research exactly where it came from but if it is the real deal, than its a little more info for my belief that MC is heading towards an unnamed Forerunner planet.

Actually the outside of the Dyson Sphere is only a few meters across while the inside is equal to Earth's orbit around the sun. But either way, yes... it is not the Dyson Sphere at the end of legendary.

Well, the reason I think that it is not a Dyson Sphere is because the sun would be contained on the inside. So in the final cutscene, what is the bright light that begins to dawn behind the mystery planet if it is not a sun?

one question and one problem

Q: Why would getting stuck on one side of the teleport send him into the future?

P: Your whole thoery, as plausible and as much as i can find myself believing it, solely rests on one piece of hard evidence and that is the Mars thing. And plus if thats a sun in the legendary ending, why is it so dark? Or am I wrong?

Yeah because the Arbiter totally meant for MC to get trapped in a different universe... (sarcasm)

Same argument could be made for time travel. Although I see time travel as a more viable way of continuing Halo rather than leading it to Marathon. It would also provide more backstory while capitalizing on a franchise that has a solid community. Yes, Marathon has established itself well but not as well as Halo and from a marketing standpoint, staying in the Halo universe is a much better idea.

Onyx also had a sun on the outside. The reason for the sun on the inside is so that it is a self-sustaining, interior planet without access to the outside so as to avoid the effects of the Halos.

When i said another Halo game i did not mean halo 4. I ment another game in the Halo Universe. If MC is sent to the Marathon Universe then the next game will be in Marathon Universe (mabye they will make Marathon 4).

Doesnt mean it will be Marathon... they have said the two games aren't related. And if you try to say "why how do you know they didnt lie" speech, apply it to what you have already said. They also said its only the end of the trilogy which doesnt mean the end of the story by any means. Look at Star Wars.

IF that's true I have a theory of Bungie's next game
It Takes place right before Marathon and MC teams up with a new Marathon Man and go through many trials from the marathon series and through the story he finds the other marathon men and they get transported to an opposite dimension with a sole planet andfind a whole new enemy that can destroy every single universe and in two games defeat it.
After that they have to get back to their universes when Arbiter finds the Chief, that marks the third game where, in the last level, you must kill gravemind and depending on what character you choose to play the game with, you recieve an ending and special armor
yeah im a halo nerd like all of you guys!

Sometimes, most of the time, the simplest answer is the correct one.

Bungie said they are not related, so the are not related.

It is an interesting theory, but its not at all anywhere near %100 proof. Only a statement from Bungie would be proof.

But sometimes people want so much to believe in something they can convince themselves of just about anything, even in the face of reality.

Its a good theory, but that is all it is.
