No matter how plausible all of these theories seem I remind myself of all the infinitely more built up theories made from the info of the previous halo games that were then completely revealed to be false by bungie's rather odd introduction of key story elements (mendicant bias/ his history with the prophets only being revealed to us in a supposedly separate book story line yet playing a key role in the game events which otherwise do not add up/ etc.).
I think back to the Brutes = forerunner, maybe the flood don't play that big of a role in the continued halo universe, and other theories that while backed up by wonderful circumstantial evidence (like your visuals of the proposed planets and the radio communicator), they all lacked definitive direct proof and it ultimately was what set them to their downfall. Because without a character from the story coming out and saying "yada yada this means his yada yada" then pieces of communicators are just pieces of space debris, and those similarities in your planet pics are nothing more than coincidence.
Bunige would never make a coincidence out of anything, why would they just go ahead and say, o lets place a similar sphere of land mass over in this corner, and have an eclipse to make it look cool, and If there wasnt a connection why would they even have that lasting part of the game? why that cut scene? why cortana and master chief? why not the elite? why not a yellow planet instead of a blackish blue one? why 2 land masses instead of 1? why...
