I just bought myself and X800 Pro and I was so excited when i booted my computer up with my brand new Hard-Drive (not this one) and X800. Now windows won't start up on the Hard-Drive and I don't know why. Whenever i start my computer up with that hard-drive it will give me the options of startein in safe mode, safe mode with networking. safe mode with command prompt, last working settings, or start windows normally. No matter which one i chose it goes to the windows boot up screen and the little three-bar bar will start to move across the screen, but stop after it goes to two spaces. Then my computer restarts, and it happens all over again.

Did you copy all the files (including the old Windows install) onto the new drive?

I'm taking that as a 'yes'...

I'm thinking it may be a result of a "frankenstien syndrome,' aka having an old version of windows moved across multiple pcs or hard disks. You may have to reinstall windows on that drive if safe mode isn't even working.

That's about as good as I can do without more detailed info.

Well, it could be a ton of things, but he did state it worked fine before he installed his new card. It doesn't sound like a hardware installation problem. The only other thing I'd suggest is that your power supply might be capping out. Newer cards need a lot more power. How many watts is your psu?

Heh, you seem to forget that all of your OTHER components need power as well. You may want to pick up a 450.

You also have to remember that quality is more important than quantity. a 450W psu from a company like coolermaster (which would actually have a peak load of around 620) would easily beat a cheap 600W supply with inferior construction. Some weaker brands also lie about total wattage and only tell you the peak output rather than the average.

I have an Antec Power Supply. Are they any good?

I also have what the box for the X800 Pro says. "ATI recomends a 300-watt power supply or greater to ensure normal system opperation where a number of other internal devices are installed."

You're getting a system error like that after a video card install?... I don't think that it is the power supply, or chances are it would not be stopping at the exact same time... I don't think it is the video card at all.

Do you have the windows install on the local hard drive, or CD-Rom?

Have you tried putting your old card back in? Then if you don't have the problem any more you can be confident that your new card has nothing to do with it.
