The problem here is learning strategies. If someone that owned at Halo 1 and now sucks at Halo 2, that's very likely because there are many more strategies than just pick up the ultimate weapon and own with it. If you have a problem with the "spray and pray" technique, which can work well in certain situations, but not all, or even most in my opinion, use the Battle Rifle and a PP. Miss the ability for close gunning and wide range? Grab a BR and hold a magnum with a PP. The plasma pistol/magnum combo is great for close-midrange shots. If that's too close for you, try the PP and BR. The plasma pistol goes quite a distance with a little aim, and the BR kills quickly when you only need 1/3 or 2/3 of a burst to sit them down. The only difference is that the guns are more deadly up close, which requires more strategy. Trust me, dual wielding two SMGs is not better than holding one, with or without grenades. It's not hard taking someone down with two SMGs to one, as long as you're prepared. If you keep the proper distance (which takes a bit to learn, just experiment with it), one SMG with obliterate two, not to mention the ability to chuck grenades. All these people that whine about Halo 2 sucking often just haven't adapted to it yet, which takes more time than adapting to Halo 1 did. I admit it, I'm a pistol whore in therapy, but Halo 2 gives you so many more options, for close and long range fighting.
