i was just curious about how the ranking system works. To be more precise, i was wondering if i quit out of a game before the game is over does that affect my rank?

The ranking system works like the game diablo or D2. Upset your level doesnt go down, thats the cool thing about Halo 2. Heres how it works....

Lets say you just got Halo 2, your experience at the momment is
0 EXP.
You play a game, such as Rumble pit and you win 3rd place, you gain experience for each player you beat (4th 5th 6th..ect). The higher level they are, tho more exp you gain. The 1st and 2nd winners of the game gain experience from you, depending on what level they and you are. Lets say you are level 6, the second place winner is level 3. He gains alot of exp because your a higher level then he is. Lets say 1st place is level 13. He still gets exp from you but not as much as the guy in second place because he is a higher level then you. This can go the opposite dirrection too. If you beat a higher level you gain more exp, if you beat a lower level, you gain less(less can add up very quick).

Ok, about your question of Quiting the game. You automaticly get last place. and you lose experience from evenyone in the game. Lets say someones quits before you and then you quit. You lose exp from everyone that was currenly there when you left. Disconnecting will not help(not that I think). You have the same penalty if you disconnect.

Hopes this helps.
