This happens in almost every game I play where there a sniper rifles involved, involving multiple players so I find it hard to belive everyone is a hacker

Playing Timberland, sniping wepons only (pistol, sniper rifle)

I have full health and full shields. I grab an Overshield. 5 seconds later I am sniped, 1 hit (suddenly die, no previous damage taken and I hear the BANG of the sniper rifle)

Different game

Playing snipers again, and find a good sniping spot. I find somone and start getting head shots into him. I end up having used up all of my ammo and HE STILL LIVES!
I grab more ammo and try again on another player who happens to be a godo target. once again ALL MY AMMO IS GONE AND HE STIL LIVES!

Frusterated I move to a new server, and have the same thing happen AGAIN and AGAIN

Can somone please explain to me why I can get killed in 1 shot with oversheld on while it takes me 4 clips on a staionary target to knock out his sheilds?

well it could be multiple things such as internet connection, mouse sensitivity (its in the control options i think), where u hit the person ( back of head and neck do the most damage), etc. etc.

Or, you were shot in the head. Snipers always kill in one headshot. Simple as that.

well u first need to make sure ur even hitting the person, if you have any lag while u play you will actually be shooting at thin air becuase of the delay. also, an overshield doesnt do much when you get a head shot. Also, when u said you started getting headshots into some guy, thats not possible becuase 1 headshot will always take someone down. so u must be either missing, or ur just joining games where they have been modded.

Right. First, your get shot in the head. And when your firing, you miss. Simple as that.

or it could be the fact that people have been playing for a loooooong time and play 24/7 and which they are really good.

ok, let me give you a hint. NEVER HOLD STILL/CAMP DURING A SNIPERS ONLY GAME
yeah, the headshots......
did you hear the beep that regesters a hit? did his shields flare?
overshields are usless when it comes to headshots

and in your sig, you spelt 'pick' wrong

Agreed, never stay in the same place when sniping, after killing afew people, peolpe will come looking for you, and about you not hitting people, if their stationary and your wasting entire clips into their head..... and hearing the damage indicator... but their not dieing... sopmething wierd is going on, but if their running around, your shooting them and not hearing a damage indicator... then your missing, remeber to lead.... it could also be alot of lag. Also they might have just got an overshield.... remeber your invinsible for afew seconds when you ger an overshield (unless you get a smack on the back of the head which will kill you even if your overshield is charging up... i think)

Heyyo,

Another important fact, is that when your ping's pretty high like 130, don't rely on your ammo display, sometimes you'll still have 1 or 2 bullets still in your gun. I remember once, My ammo display said I was empty, I clicked twice, headshot the poor bugger... with my empty clip of pain. ;)

Hi EvilKitty,
The snipers rifle can be difficult to master on moving targets, I find this helps:

1) If the target is moving and not at extreme range do not zoom in twice, just zoom to the first level.
2) Learn the LAG in the game, every server is slightly different, with the snipers rifle watch the smoke trail and listen for the hit ping if you are on the first zoom you will see if you are missing.
3) Choose where to aim, 1 shot to the head kills as you know but on a moving target this can be tough so go for 2 body shots.
4) I like to have a pistol as my second weapon if you manage to hit a person once with the rifle and they are close enough for the pistol use that to finish them off.

Hope this helps - remember to learn the amount of lag in the game, practice for a while on the server the pistol is the best weapon for learning the amount of llead for aiming due to lag.

yes but an all sniper game, active camo., no radar, no nav. points, or anything like that, any kill is extremly hard, barly any tactics or tips like thses are useless

I am positive it's lag. This happens on usually any server but dedicated ones. Just ask who has 56k or check your connection.

Do you have DSL? I used to, and it sucked. It's a variable connection as the pipe you run your internet on is the same as many people in your area. Cable internet solves it. Get comcast!

I disagree DSL is a dedicated line its cable that is a shared connection How do I know: I'm a Lan Admin for Verizon.

Heyyo,

For internet gameplay? DSL whups Cable. Why? DSL has higher upload rates, and tends to have a leveled upload/download, which greatly affects latency (as in lower latency).

For downloading stuff? Cable wins each time. Why? MASSIVE download rates (w00t! I get 6Mbit downstream!!!!!!!!). This thing can HAUL some serious ass. But yeah, uploadings a whole different thing (1.3Mbit upstream.... slooooowwwwww.....)

DSL speeds depend on how far you are from the nearest receptor. Before I was like, a block away, so I was getting like, a 2Mbit connection, which rocks for online gaming. ;)

It's called Lag. There's no such thing as stationary targets in Halo MP in my experience. However shooting people with a lot more ping than you is easy.
