Forget it, you dont seem to understand a -blam!- thing. If this guy was running out of ram with 1.5 gigs imagine how much faster he would run with even less ram? the harddrive is a hell of a lot slower than either ram type. And who is running out ot get ddr3 ram anyways?

But he's not running out of RAM. H2V will take ~460MB at times, so 1.5GB is enough.

His loading times would be lower with 1GB DDR2, but they will still be there. Are you seeing where I am going with this?

Absolutely not, first of all, loading times have nothing to do with what he was asking, nor do they have to do with ram, thats the hard drive's job. I also dont think you know what you are getting at. It is way more important to have MORE memory rather than faster memory. Maybe you didnt read what he posted but he said he had something open taking his cpu/ram, go figure. Do you even know how much faster ddr2 is than ddr?

Loading has to do with the RAM too, the hard drive has to make that data readily accessible, otherwise the whole thing would run slow. DDR RAM gets to about 400MHz, then DDR2 picks up from 533MHz. Unfortunately, the OP's RAM is running 266MHz.

Isn't Beowul7 running this game on a GeForce 6800 and 1.5GB of RAM? Isn't it running fine for him? So what's different?

The memory type.

I ran the game at medium with an 6800 gt, athlon x2 4400+, 2gb DDR just fine and I can now run the game maxed out at the highest res with AA+AF just by putting in an 8800 GTX(which I did) and guess what, I still use DDR. Infact it's better than my laptop with 2GB DDR2 but with a 7900 GTX go. DDR>DDR2??

Not the same. There's no FSB on Athlon processors, so they can transfer straight to the RAM. Either way if you were using 2GB of DDR or DDR2 RAM you wouldn't see the difference, because Vista and Halo 2 are strange that way.

The only reason why you saw improvement was because of a better video card.

It's clear you have no clue what you are talking about. FSB doesn't have much to do with BANDWIDTH, it has to do with LATENCY. http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets/showdoc.aspx?i=2762& p=5 educate yourself.

Irrelevant, AMD chips don't have FSB's anyway.

You put up a good argument, and I thank you for that, but you can't seriously mean that DDR > DDR2? That's like saying AGP > PCI-E!

Are you dense or something? The argument was NEVER about DDR being better, no one is arguing that DDR2 is inferior. In fact it is about you claiming that the only reason that he was getting crappy FPS was because wasn't using DDR2. I presented many example as to how either the GPU or CPU make a much much bigger difference you and you don't seem to understand this fact. You go as far to claim that 1GB DD2>>>2 GB DDR when this is just stupid, use any modern OS with any recent game and you can go over 1 GB ram easily in which case you will be hitting the harddrive.

WARNING! INCORRECT USING THIS FEATURES MAY CAUSE YOUR SYSTEM BROKEN!

will my new vista PC run H2V
I have:
a core 2 duo processor
2gb DDR2 RAM
nVidia GeForce 8400GS
ASRock motherbord

so will Halo 2 vista run on it?
