Help save humanity! Join the epic war against the invading Vallcry!

I am a proud user of correct spelling and grammar.

I am a proud subscriber to the podcasts, but I'm starting to wonder why some things are slipping by.

The newest podcast (102707 as it is labeled) is very different from all the others. Only 12 minutes into the podcast and the f-bomb has been dropped twice. I know there has been some swearing in previous podcasts, but this is far past acceptable for me. I don't mind a usual swear word, but this is a giant stretch. At least bleep out some of these heavier words. Thank you and feel free to discuss this issue.

Good, bad, I'm the guy with the clichéd lines.

I don't really care if they swear. I also wouldn't care if it was bleeped out.

You play a Mature rated game but you refuse to hear the F-word? I don't understand.

Aw, did the nasty swear word hurt poor baby's ears?
In all seriousness, they should bleep it out.

They don't say the F-word in Halo 3. I could care less if they use every swear word used in the game. But using the F-word twice in that short amount of time almost makes it seem like the game could have been rated AO. It takes it to a whole new level.

It pains me to know a word like that is so offensive to you.

Not really...No game has ever been rated AO for language..

I just mentally skip over the words. :P

Of course, it could be a bit more family friendly. Since, you know, families listen in. >_> Frequently.

I'm surprised you're worrying about the F words, when some of those anecdotes were pretty.. >_> Interesting themselves. Bleeping out the heavier words would be a little better, I agree.

"Hasn't" doesn't mean it can't happen.

Game developers seem to shy away from hardcore (extremely hardcore) language, especially today when you've got a dozen Jack Thompson's trying to bring down the industry.

because if seeing is believing,
then believe that we have lost our eyes

I think it was kind of called for for the weird countdown : )

But seriously, I think all the curses that are usually spread out were just laid out in the begining and calmed down after that. At least thats what I remember.

Great Podcast either way!

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

It's not the swear word itself, rather that Bungie is sinking to vulgarity to grab a younger audience.

It's not just the F-word either. They also say the S-word many times too. I didn't hear either of these words in the game I bought on September 25th, why should I hear them now? Can we please get a censor on the heavier words?

Oh yeah. When they were talking about guys watching them play Halo and commenting on how they play, the guy screams, "DO YOUR JOB YOU SON OF A -blam!-."

You could say my family might have... overheard >_>.

It's just a word. There are words that mean the same thing as the f-word that you probably don't mind.
People just don't like the word because they're told that it's a "bad word."

Get over it.

Recon you old pervert, you're old enough to be her dad!
Actually, I wouldn't mind seeing a few more of her around...

What? Podcast? oh, right. Haven't listened to it yet. But don't they usually bleep stuff out? Or maybe that was because they were still under MS control back then?

Go Chiefs

Oh sweet Jebus. Does it really matter? Just grow up and brush it off.

In summation, -blam!- off.

Well, if the forums don't allow the word, I really don't see why the podcast does. It's like saying 'You can't use the word, and if you do you'll get banned, but we can the use the word anytime we want." Sure, we have no rights, but come one. Come on...

You people have just sent my sides into orbit. A bunch of MLG try hards sucking the dick of some supposed pro half the thread hasn't even heard of. Classic.

Quite frankly I could care less. If they want to spend the whole time dropping every curse word imaginable I say go for it. I will still listen.

,,,what? Seriously? You actually think that the makers of one of the best selling series' of all time have decided that they should drop the F-bomb every once in a while in a desperate attempt to grab viewers? I think I can safely say that for almost everyone else in this thread, that's not what the point is.

Christ.... what kind of society do we live in where saying -blam!- has become "far past acceptable"? Do we even realize how absurd that is? It's one word. A word that means absolutely nothing other than the fact that we have decided to censor it as a society. They weren't at a press conference, they weren't making a public speech. They were talking, as real people, to an audience, in a manner that we have been "invited into their home". When you go to someone's house, you should expect to hear them talk they same way they naturally do.

Maybe they should have censored it to keep in line with expectations. But COME ON people.

I still don't like the idea of not using the word in the game or the Forums, but in the podcast, they can use it now? It doesn't make sense. If it's censored on the Forums or in the game, then it should be censored in the podcast as well. If you listen to the podcast before this, you will definitely notice a big difference in the choice of words. They made a leap from almost no swearing to pulling out almost every swear word in the book.

You've made a very good point, and I still question this idea to this day, but, the words are still considered "bad" and it will probably remain that way unless it is announced at some big meeting that there are no such things as "bad words."

Like i wrote in the podcast news thread, im glad that theyre finally using a little more adult jargon. Not that cursing makes it more mature but its expected in conversations among dudes. The other podcasts has been some choir meetings IMO and those guys are hardly fitting in to that profile. We need more of Dave.
