"I have no words that would do justice to the atrocities you commit to the English language, as well as your continued assaults on the concepts of basic literacy and logical reasoning."

That is the most absurd, silly thing I've read this week. And I've been reading a Halo 3 forums.

Here's the deal - if you don't like that certain words are/aren't censored, tell Lukems. However, know that the podcasts are a very organically flowing conversation by they nature and sometimes you'll hear some cursing because that's the kind of environment it is. We're generally not going to "hide" who we are when that's the point of the podcast in the first place! The game is a professional production that goes out to a significantly wider audience who doesn't really care about the personalities of those who made the game. So cursing only happens if the script requires it. You'll note we're rated M for the blood/gore/violence, not "heavy language".

But, by all means, send Lukems feedback about it - he's running the podcasts.

Posted by: Pink Menace\It's not the swear word itself, rather that Bungie is sinking to vulgarity to grab a younger audience.

You can't use it here because in anonymous company cursing often destroys any hope of conversation.

The podcasts are you listening in on a friendly chat with a few Bungie guys, coming as they are. It isn't a "performance" like the game is, where a very specific tone and goal are in place.

And if you think the podcast even comes close to "every swear word in the book," you are mistaken. There were what, 3? 4? variations of cursing in the podcast, and they were rather tame compared to the stuff censored on these forums and the stuff some of you try to post anyway.

I still don't like the idea of not using the word in the game or the Forums, but in the podcast, they can use it now? It doesn't make sense. If it's censored on the Forums or in the game, then it should be censored in the podcast as well. If you listen to the podcast before this, you will definitely notice a big difference in the choice of words. They made a leap from almost no swearing to pulling out almost every swear word in the book.

Live for nothing die for something.

Wow, this is just stunning to me that someone would care about a few words in the podcast, the only reason why they are "bad" is because you are told they are.

Podcasts are interviews and discussions with the people who design and work at Bungie (mostly). These are people who work in an organic and liberal environment. Which means they walk around in jeans, t-shirts and are free to speak to each other like friends. And how do friends in their 20's, 30's and 40's talk to each other?

That's right, like drunken sailors. If lukems censored or heavily edited the podcasts, it would ruin the free flowing streams of thought and spontaneity.

I mean sure, Bungie can pursue violent World Domination but if I hear them using vulgarity I might just quit my post. Because that is just wrong.

This is so stupid... I don't want to start pulling your arguments down because I will just start using the same words you are campaigning against, we would both look like idiots and I would relieve my stress by bludgeoning newer members in The Halo 3 Forum.

The formulation suggested that this would be wrong but you know deep down in your heart that its the right thing to do, follow your heart. Whats up with this btw, happens every time im posting after Pezzdizzle. Am i indeed being hit by his moderating aura and if so what does this mean?

I am a proud subscriber to the podcasts, but I'm starting to wonder why some things are slipping by.

The newest podcast (102707 as it is labeled) is very different from all the others. Only 12 minutes into the podcast and the f-bomb has been dropped twice. I know there has been some swearing in previous podcasts, but this is far past acceptable for me. I don't mind a usual swear word, but this is a giant stretch. At least bleep out some of these heavier words. Thank you and feel free to discuss this issue.

Apparently someone has been protected from the world.

I don't think there's a number large enough to show the # of uses of the "F-bomb" in a single day by the 7 billion occupants of the world.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -

You used Paint to compress that, didn't you? =\ At first I thought it was shopped because of how crappy it looks around the text, but then I realized that the entire picture looks like that.

That's odd that it keeps happening. My suggestion is to stop stalking Pezz. =P

Edit: Quoting mishap.

You play a Mature rated game but you refuse to hear the F-word? I don't understand.

They don't say the F-word in Halo 3. I could care less if they use every swear word used in the game. But using the F-word twice in that short amount of time almost makes it seem like the game could have been rated AO. It takes it to a whole new level.

It pains me to know a word like that is so offensive to you.

I'm with nuclear on this. I really do not appreciate people dropping F-bombs constantly. It doesn't make you sound any cooler, so why do it?

I agree. The mass over-use of swear words is a danger to this world! I mean they are grossly over-used! A 12 year old on xbox live uses them as his second language! Who the hell gets offended by a 12 year old?! What we need are some fresh new swear words that will really offend people! Some words with really nasty meanings. What kind of world do we live in where no one is offended by swear words? A world that values actions over words? Madness!!

I say we scrap all current swear words and make up nice new ones. Words that at the sound of them people get sued and traffic stops! This is a real issue that needs to be taken super cereal.

Bungie needs to stop with the "swear words" and make up new ones. I will suggest crookpr. Make up your own meaning. The world will be a better place.

Classic.

I don't really mind. I mean, its an M rated site, isn't it?

But you can pm Lukems, like Achronos just said, and make your point there. But they swear more in Pg-13 movies, and this is the equivelent of an R rated podcast.

Mind bottling *two points for the Blades of Glory reference*.

Well the game is rated mature and naturally the podcast shouldn't be that much different, understandable. The only reason I don't like the swearing is that me and my co-workers like to plug the iPod into the work radio and listen to some good podcasts. Passes the time really well, but when a superintendent or homeowner comes by the job site we have to be careful. This is why I'm glad IGN is beginning to censor the heavy curse words in their podcasts.

There was a man from Allentown who fed his son to death.
He calmly watched him gorge himself until his final breath.
And there he stood, surprised and shocked above his tiny frame.
He said: "I bear no blame for this. I only share his name!"

Heh heh, "sailor talk".

Well anyone that's played with me on Live knows that I don't exactly curb my potty mouth so I'm not offended. Personally, I like hearing the Bungie guys just be themselves. Then again... I have pretty loose morals. ;)

I was exaggerating there, but there is a large difference in the two podcasts as far as swearing goes. And I will send a message to Luke, thanks for reminding me about that.
