I start up halo and befor it even gets into the "bungi, gearbox,Microsoft" video, This
(Halo - Warning) thing pops up saying... "We are sorry, but your computer's video hardware is below the recommended minimum spec for this game. If you wish to upgrade you computer, please contact you computer manufacturer for any necessary assistance."...

I don't know what the heck they are talking about... I have a new computer [WindowsXP HomeAdition] and nothing like this has happened to me in any of the other games I own.
Please Help Me!

Well If you can tell us your full specs:

Your CPU
Your video card (just right click on your wallpaper, then go to properties, then settings, and write out the info that in that bar
Your amount of RAM
and also the other games you have played on your computer

yeah, giving us ur specs would kinda help.
also that screen isnt complicated. Its telling you that ur computer is to slow to run halo, but it also give you the option to run anyway, or theres an option to run in "safe" mode.
that happened to me on my old computer, i just ran anyway and set graphics to -blam!- so i could play at all. it would be easiest for you to just select to use safe mode.

Just out of curiosity, are you able to borrow another graphics card from somewhere? I know you say the comp is new, but manufacturers tend to scrimp on components for low to mid range off the shelf machines... If in doubt about what your specs are, do a google/yahoo search for 'Everest System Report'. It's a freeware program that doesn't require any installation and it will tell you all you need to know about your system.

I mentioned about borrowing a card because I have experienced this warning myself when I had an old ATi RagePro128mb. If you can't lay your hands on one, just run that prog...

Good luck!

Heyyo,

Heh, yeah, borrow a card off a bud. Me bud used to have a Rivia TNT2, I felt sorry for him, sold him my gf4 mx440 for like, $20, and bought a ATI Radeon 9600 PRO... Hey, I'mma nice guy, what can I say? ;)

Yeah, I notice that with new comps too. Usually they make them and adertise the great cpu, the good ram, and only murmur the crappy gf4 mx440 they give with it... HP does this with budget comps not newer ones, I'm sure compaq does too with almost all comps... Definately Dell does this with all comps, don't buy dell, or compaq. Get HP, or if possible, Falcon Computers... MMM, those Falcon computers are very nice. Or you can be uber-smart money saver, and just custom buiild your own comp, or pay a bud like, $10 to assemble you a good comp... make sure he knows what he's doing...

Me bud had someone else build him a comp... guy diddn't do that great of a job. Bought him a big cpu, but the videocard? hmm, I would've gone for a bigger one, and lower the cpu.. I tried to warn him that his bud knows how to build an office comp, not a gaming comp... but whatever, his comp's good for hosting fast listenservers at least for when it comes to lanparties. ;)

I will NEVER buy an off the shelf PC... With the possible exception of an Alienware machine. At the end of the day, you will always get what you want if you go for a custom build and save yourself some money in the process...

Heyyo,

Muff, you forgot Falcon, they're almost as great as alienware, but the savings are much higher. Falcon gives you comps without making you pay much more for just a brandname. (Oh c'mon, alienware's a lot of brand name pricing...)

HP and compaq are only the same thing cause Hp owns compaq... compaq was bought out by another company first, and then someone bought out compaq from that company, lol, compaq's just the whore of the computer selling industry, lmao... veryone can get a peice of compaq for the right price. :p

I said "maybe" alienware. At the end of the day I will always prefer to have a custom... Especially now that 64bit machines are becoming more popular... My next project. Mmmm!

As far as Falcon go, I've never even heard of them. Where are they based?

Just one more thing... What time is it there with you Mard? It's 7.30 am here...

Um, in my opinion alienware is much cheaper than FALCON. a month ago MAXPC had several companies send in thier best PCs. ALIENWARES best was $5000, and Falcon Northwest's was $8000. The alienware still pulled ahead.
