You just had to say 'Recon' didn't you? Now the Halo 3 Forum has gone to hell...again

Those were some of the funniest videos ive ever seen. thanks for the update Bungie. Now all we have to do is hope we get it. I probably won't get it until Bungie makes another great game. I am always unlucky.

This message was brought to you by: Dr. Venkman.
I have P.H.D.s in both parapsychology and psychology.
I also host a TV show called "The World of the Psychic".
And let's get real here man, Who You Gunna Call?

Sam Rothstein: I want an equal amount of blueberries in every muffin.
Chef: Do you know how long that will take?
Sam Rothstein: I don't care, do it.

That's one way of saying that you worked for the balance in this game. I understand the game now so don't listen to those who complain and critisize. The melee system is new but it is logical. I hope that some games are recognized as one team completely failing. I played social doubles 2day and won with 7 total VIP kills and no deaths. How does the system root out games where one team doesn't participate?

P.S. If Bungie does read this, thanks for your time...

Never eat yellow snow, unless of course, you spilled your Mt. Dew!

I wonder how many people will be trying to kill themselves with inanimate objects now in the hopes of being the next contestant on the price of right? The item up for bid............................recon armor!

I love you guys at bungie, but I have to say I disagree with your melee explanation. As a nursing student I'm taught to assess everything, and observe all I see. As well as analyze.

I just think it would educate more minds to go into greater detail about it. Admittedly at first I was upset about the melee system, as you may find in my previous forum trollz. But, I understand you folks mean well. Anyway I propose you guys really explain how it works, for the good of the halo community. I think you should mention that there is in fact a small window of time, and that it works like a "counter" In the aspect that whoever had more health wins, but also loses their shield. Being that both melee's do in fact "register" as connected. Basically, I feel the explanation was dumbed down a little too much.

Now I understand why the Sniper Rifle is so coveted, yet there is only one to two per normal map.
And who says Mister Chief is horrible? I'm still waiting for the day when bBungie decides to release his plush toy!

By the way, I think I'm the first person to ask for this, but is Bungie going to release official info on the other armor perms like they did with the EVA & CQB?

Bungie and Microsoft are both making vague claims about this system having some magical ability to determine your "true" skill level and vaguely suggesting that your performance in-game somehow affects your rank. But if you read Microsoft's own material on how Truskill works, this appears to be a bunch of BS. The system actually still only considers whether your team won or lost in team games. Just like Halo 2. Unless Halo 3 uses some modified version of Truskill, nothing you do in the game affects your rank. Only what place you finish in the game. And in team games, you can only finish 1st (if your team wins) or 2nd (if your team loses). Nothing else is considered. I don't know what the true explanation is for all the apparent anomolies that people are experiencing, but according to Microsoft's material on Truskill it has nothing to do with your performance in the game.

Here is a link to a thread I participated in on this topic. The thread author links several articles from Microsoft in the Original post. Some of them are technical in nature and quite confusing, but they explain how Truskill works, and it does not consider any aspect of your in-game performance. It only considers the final outcome. Again, this is how Truskill works, perhaps Bungie can clarify if Halo 3 uses some modified version which does consider in-game performance.

Edit: The IGN article listed in this thread is actually incorrect in its explanation. The Microsoft articles all support my explanation above.

Cool Update. I still want to know how someone even cheats. Never seen it and couldn't imagine what they could possibly do besides find a glitch in the map to hide in and snipe or something without getting seen. I dunno.

Great video of Halo landfall. Makes me wish they'd make the movie already with Master Chief and the freak videos of the guys killing themselves...LOL. Great stuff.

I think I'll act like an idiot for a bit.

Would you kindly?

Congrats to the two guys with brand new recon helmets.

You know, I don't think I've ever come across a cheater before on Halo 3, are they really all that common?

Thanks for looking into the melee. Personally, my biggest problem with it is the lunge. It really seems to encourage people playing unintelligently, and combined with how powerful the melee is, every close or medium-range gun fight ends up just being a contest as to who can slam the melee button fastest. Without it, you'd actually have to move carefully around your opponent and pick the right time to melee, instead of letting him fill your face with bullets until you get in that range where you can magically swoop ten feet and just bust him in his head.

And air-lunging period is ridiculous. It doesn't even make physical sense, and encourages bunny-hopping.

The melee system is not balanced

Say, if someone has more health then you, but enough that if you punch them, they should die, and you have no shields, but are right up to the guy, and you punch him, and he does not die, even though the hit connected, and no his health did not recharge. Then he punches like a second after you punched, and he kills you.

The melee system is not balanced, it is bull-blam!-, not our fault they're -blam!- slow at pressing the B button. Bungie needs to fix it.
