The Classifieds contain all the "Join a Cool Group" ads that no one really cares about, No one cares about your silly little group, and that is why no one looks in the classifieds.

I have reasons to believe that the classifieds are an ineffective way to advertise a group. No one is searching for groups to just arbitrarily join...many just create their own instead, so the classifieds are often untouched except by those who post their groups there. Those who post in even the Flood forums about their group often get accused of spam, and are told to post in the classifieds...but why bother? No one looks! So people instead PM a few people at a time, which might also be counted as spamming their inbox...though many times it is simply declined, some have reported being spammed by group leaders, who request ppl to join. I for one, have posted my group BELIEVE more than once, only to find that I have not gained any new ground.

I would prefer if I have your opinions, but not that I get flamed...after all, if you have nothing nice to say...then plz say nothing. Thx...

EXACTLY !!! The classifieds are a way for Bungie to say, "keep your spam elsewhere!"

Your post is a bit vague...the idea is that you should be allowed to post in any forums about a Halo related group without getting flamed...which I've seen more than once...

Again its because no one cares about your silly little group... do you realize how many groups are on this site?!?! Imagine everyone going into the main forums and promoting their groups, it would be stupid and no one would read the promos, and that is what the Classifieds are for... To make you feel like your actually promoting your group without anyone actually having to look at it.

Then what's the point of even having a group if you can't advertise it without getting blamed for spam...agreed that there are a lot of groups, and it might clutter the forums, but give us new group guys a break...the only option is to join a bigger group, not create your own, and then eventually there are a few main groups instead of many different big groups with interesting ideas.

Which is disappointing when you realize that no one is looking, so the first thing that comes to mind is to post in other forums and PM people your group link.

Which is against the rules because again no one cares about your silly little group... if people really have that much of an interest in a group dedicated to a topic they'll find it, they don't need you to shove promos down their throat.

The Classifieds are there to advertise your group, thats it. I don't know what you're confused about

Excuse me? I never stated that I was confused...Listen, I posted this to discuss the matter on the classifieds being unreliable, and though debating invites contradiction, it does not invite you putting words into my mouth...

I don't think the purpose of the Classifieds is to be "effective" at advertising, it's just more of a "want people to join your dumb group? Advertise here for people who are actually looking for it" thing.

Classifieds are for people that look.

Advertisements are for people that don't look.

Bungie supports classifieds but not advertising. Happy?

But no one is looking for it...it's a first come first serve...look at the top group...over 15000 ppl!! because the group was one of the first to be created...who needs to look for a group when they can join the most popular one instead! So whats the point of even having classifieds?

It doesn't matter if the Classifieds are reliable or not. Like Faucy said, they're just a place to post "hey, join mah group plz" and people either look at it or they don't

If you're deadset on recruiting your group, just spam invites to every organic thing on this website. Thats what everybody else seems to do.

Tone it down...I appreciate your opinion, but don't drag it on plz.

The idea has been stated...and this is an interesting matter, whether you agreed or not, and most if not all can say that it is. I suppose it's a bit extreem to suggest that it's a bad idea to not to post in the classifieds at all, but read the first post here...

I have a good point, and the polls seem to be in my favor...
