Hey,

This is the real TalkingElmo. I'm a moderator on Gearbox's forums. This is my first post on the b.net forums. Apparently someone with no life has decided they want to impersonate me and bad mouth Gearbox under my name on this forum. For the record, that was not me. People who know me should be able to tell that that wasn't me because of the writing style. I don't misspell words, use slang like "gonna," use the wrong form of their/there, etc.

I registered this user name (TalkingElmo) several months ago before the updated b.net site went live. I don't know how this person got the same user name. I've never posted here so I don't know how these boards work.

Anyway, if an administrator can ban the other "TalkingElmo" and provide me with his IP address, that would be helpful. My guess is that he's another user from the Gearbox forums trying to stir up trouble and damage my reputation. If I have his IP address, I can track him down on Gearbox's forums and figure out who's doing this.

Thanks,
TE

What are you babbling about? I guess you think that you are so important that someone would try to impersonate you? Talk about being on a high horse. I guess it's a crime now to have the same name as another user on other forums? You obviously need to grow up and attain a social life. Nobody cares about the fact that you are a "MOD" at Gearbox forums and it is quite laughable how you brag about it.

I also find it funny how you find my opinion as spamming and trolling, yet anything positive you guys spam about Halo CE is considered normal posting. Some of you need to refine your thought process. Voicing my opinion is no crime and I can use any name I please as long as it is available to me. I will not search every forum online to find out if the name I am using is taken. Grow up!

That is really odd. You guys shouldn't be able to use the same username. I'll get Achronos to look into this tomorrow.

I don't believe he was trying to impersonate you here, though. He never actually stated he was a moderator at gearbox.

actually, so far th idiotic TalkingElmo, we have done no spamming only promoting thorugh the answering of questions. What you are doing is trying to kill something that could be quite great. Which is why you shoudl screw off. You are entitled to your opinion, but abusing the privelages of using this forum is bull-blam!-, so cut the crap and go ruin someone elses fun.

They're not - the clone is using an upper-case i rather than an l.

I dont know why you all are getting wiled up about this it was just a simple mistake and should have just had disscused it like normal people instead of getting all pissie. Dispite on how you feel about Gearbox they still deserve respect (I realize I sound like a real geak but dont tell ANYONE to get a life if you post at bugies forums dedicated to Halo then NONE of us have any lives and Ill admit to that).
One question still drifts across my mind and that is how a Gearbox moderator heard about this if I were you I'd check my source it may be someone trying to start a fight.

One question still drifts across my mind and that is how a Gearbox moderator heard about this if I were you I'd check my source it may be someone trying to start a fight.

After the HaloCE/HEK article ran on the front page on b.net, we heard on the Gearbox forums that people on the b.net forums had a bunch of questions about HaloCE and the HEK. Someone on the Gbx forums said, "Hey, let's get a bunch of us to go over to the b.net forums and help answer questions! Let's get as many people on board with HaloCE as possible." So, several of us (Let me live, ColinC, and a few others) came over to help answer common questions. Apparently, someone thought it would be cute to register a name that looks like mine and rip HaloCE to shreds. (A coincidence? I doubt it. He registered here right after people on the Gbx forums decided to come over here and field questions. And really, how common is the name "TalkingElmo"? It's not like "Master Chief" or "John117" or something else you see all the time.)

I registered on the Seventh Column back in January, but I've never gotten around to posting on the forums since the new site went live a month or two ago. The way I found out about this was several people on the Gbx forums asked me if that was me posting all that crap. So I came over here to see what was going on.

Good times.

All the same, we do appreciate that you've come to play the QnA game. I've been unable to field most of the questions as I started moving to my new place before I could get seriously aquainted with the tools in question. Thanks for the helping hand!
