no vel bungie cannot do that, we need more halo. halo 2 will just further increase its demand with the fanbase. if bungie are tired of FPS or master chief can't they just use one of these ideas rather than 'move on' as you put it

This space combat game idea sounds one hell of alot like Decent Freespace, and Decent Freespace 2 (not that thats a bad thing) by Volition. Which in my opinion is a great idea.

I'd buy a Halo RTS game on opening day. I can't think of anything else that would beat it.

What will decide what games are next is simple, it's money. That's what drives business in these times. If they think that H3 would make a lot of money then there will be a H3. What console it will be for is another question.

Yes i know what you mean and chances are if there ever was a Halo 3 it would be a FPS. this forum is simply about sharing ideas and speculating on various gaming types but using halo universe stuff.

I would play a Halo RTS, I'm a HUGE fan of RTS games. Aside from Halo and CS, they are the only types I play. An interesting way to make a Halo RTS would be to design it similar to Ground Control... That would be really, really cool. By the way, if you haven't played Ground Control, you are missing out.

nice idea but its always RTS games. please read my first post so newer fresher ideas will be posted. (unless its a revolutionary way to play a halo RTS)

Ground control isn't axactly an all out RTS. It is like other games like the Total War series in that you do not construct a base or mine resources. You get to chose you ecuipment ranging from basic marine infantry to very realistic mobile artillary. Then the units you chose are the only units you get throughout the whole level. It's awesome, and using Halo vehicles and a clever story line, it would be a great game.

I don't know if this is what you meant by space combat, Zamamee, so if it is, no offense.
But in fall of reach and a little bit in First Strike, there were somevery tactical descisions and manuevers being made in ships. In the Fall of Reach, Captain Keyes did a lot of this.. Well my point is, I'd check out a game where you gave tactical commands to your different crew people, like the pilot and the weapons manager, and maybe have a headset to give orders with and specify who you are directing them towards. "Lovell, plot a collision course with that Destroyer, start charging the MAC."

that sounds a lot like star trek fleet commander to me. MY space shop battle idea (first post) is based upon rouge squadron or battlestar galactica. but i think a unique control system and that bungie magic added would make it better than those for my example, and yes in the book 'fall of reach' there are many space battles that you could participate in even vaugely mentioned ones like harvest

even if bungie stops Microsoft has made millions on halo (it was the reason i got an xbox) i think the rights would be bought from bungie and the best animaters would be brought in from the best companies (bungie included) to make the next generation of halo

QUOTE BY LET ME LIVE: _____________________________________________________________ _______________"ummm... first, wasnt there 3 marathon games?? could be possible that Halo 2 is about saving earth and destroying another ring (hence the name Halo 2), and a 3rd Halo that has the human forces takin it to the covie (with cortana's info on how simple thier plasma drives and turrets are) as well as shield info. Of course, it would have the usual plots and twists where somethin goes horribly wrong/unexpected (forrunner??) and then the humans have to deal with 3 aliens, and in the final the MC sacrifices himsef or sometin to rid the universe of covie, forrunner, and flood?? just rampant speculation but it is interesting... "

you remember when peter parsons said: "when she put a bomb on the Master Chiefs back and shoved him down a hole"... it might mean that.

only thing is about the whole ressurecting the rts halo is that many ppl don't and never will know it was suppose to be an rts and that may take all the hype away from halo and really make alot of ppl angry at bungie. But ther will be those such as myself that will still stand by bungie if they do decide to take halo in a diff. direction.

also this factor could present a promblem with the rts genre, i mean in the sence of tranfering all the things that they've done in teh past 2 halos and making it still a good rts, idk how you guys feel about this but i think they should keep halo in fps form, because it is THE BEST concept for a fps (the whole halo story, and makes it all that more imerseing).

a good point, but if there was going to be a halo game of a different type what would you want it to be?

Hmm...how about a party game similar to Mario Party. You could play as the MC, Sarge, Cortana, and Captain Keyes. You only play mini-games, such as: "Grunt Soccer", "Corpse Humping Contest", and "Count the Flood".

LOL

I've got to say, everyone has a price (person or company). If Halo 2 becomes as popular as we all want it to be, i can't exactly see Bungie just saying that's it. Halo2 will cost atleast $45 dollars a shot (BEARING IN MIND HALO HAS SOLD NEARLY 5MILLION COPIES) and xbox live subscriptions are gonna go through the roof because of that. Thats a heck of a lot of money, don't let them say anything else. Halo3 will happen, i can't exactly see Bill Gates saying ok thats enough, he's a greedy bugger as it is!! Lets not think about the distant future though yet, lets look forward to 2 first!!!
