Opening your NAT will probably solve the problem. What ended up working for me was a combination of port forwarding and a DMZ. Here is a nice site I used for a walkthrough: http://www.noddegamra.co.uk/problems-with-xbox-360-live-nat-s ettings/3/.

Every time I try to join a game, or vice versa, with my friend, it says we have incompatible NATs. In addtion, every time I start to do a matchmaking game, it tells me my NAT is not open and connection will be slow (it takes as long as it does over at my friends' house, but it still shows the message). It then refers me to bungie.net/router. I was hoping someone knew the problem. Well, thanks in advance (btw I am a slight computer geek, so I should know what you're talking about). Happy Haloing!
