I'm going to change my GT this weekend and so I'm trying to think of everything I use this GT for. My BNet account is one such thing. I know that there isn't a way to rename my account, but is there a way to delete it, without sending the banhammer down upon it?

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

Hrm... since your answer decided to go get himself banned, I suppose I'll say it again in case you didn't get to it yet.

Accounts can't be deleted. They will expire if you don't log in for either four months or a year (I'm not sure which these days). The problem is if you are just changing the name of your account, and not actually getting a new one. If that's the case, you're basically stuck with your current B.net name.

No no, that's the whole point: I am getting a new B.net account. That's why I wanted to get rid of my current one. If someone wanted the name I didn't want it to be in use, however I will be getting a new one. However, since they don't get deleted, but can expire, I suppose that answers my question. Now however I need to figure our how long it takes for them to expire...

Aku is right. Accounts can't be deleted unless you don't log on in a year or in months (I'm not sure which).

So then how many months is it? Where would I go to find out?

passport.net? That's what our accounts are based on. Or you could talk to Achronos...

Bungie.net members do not have the power to delete their own account or change their display name manually. However, your account, if inactive for one year, would automatically be deleted. Signing in with the same login information would take you to profile creation, thus allowing you to "change" your display name by creating a new account. The only other way would be to beg and plead to the powerful Bungie.net overlords and maybe, just maybe, they'll hear your cries and decide to help. Send an email to bnetbugs@microsoft.com and explain the situation (be sure to include what you want your account name to be). Please note that they hardly ever grant these requests unless there is a real extraordinary reason to.

While you can't delete your account, it is possible the close it. Go to the .net passport services website, sign in, go to customer support, and close your account.

This could screw up a lot of things, so I don't recommend doing it.

Oh, I'm sorry, I misspoke. I meant to say that if you are only changing the name of your gamertag, then there is really nothing you can do, since you already have your account linked. But if you are changing your actual XBL account, then you can just stop using this B.net account.

You may be able to delete a passport account, though. The problem with that is if you are using the attached hotmail account.

Hey i just today changed my Gamertag and mt bnet account wont link to my new tag. I;ve mailed bungie about this but so far no reply. I've changed my gamertag countless times before so it might just need to have time to update itself... i dont know but i've only just noticed it to be a big problem for me.
