Well to start, I have a 2005 Gateway computer with 512 MB of Ram and a Intel Pentium 4 processor W/ Windows XP. Now it runs kind of slow and I was wondering how much it will cost to upgrade my RAM to 1 GB-2 GB, o and I have a 200 GB SATA HD...and is there any inexpensive ways to make my computer run better...I don't have any spyware or viruses on my computer...Norton FTW! Also my graphics card sux balls and I'm looking to get one for under $150, my current graphics card is the one that came with my computer...feel free to give me any suggestions...

1 gig of DDR2 Ram usually averages around $60-100, depending on where you buy it.
Getting your computer to run faster? get rid of Norton. I heard that norton slows down computers more than viruses can, espcially with only 512 MB of ram.
As for a graphics card, I have a Nvidia Ge-Force 8500 GT thats working wonders for me. only cost me $120.

The 8500GT now costs even from $85. And you have a Gateway 507GR don't you?

I'd go 8600GT.
DDR2 RAM can be as cheap as $30 for 512MB, believe it.
THe second thing you want to upgrade is that blasted P4. I'd love to get rid of mine (if I could afford Conroe I'd do it) and an Allendale (Core 2 Duo E4500 and below) will run you less than $150 if you shop at newegg.

-Knock- -Knock- Hello? Its a 2005 computer mine is an '04 which has DDR an AGP slot and Socket number 478 which doesn't support dual core processors. PCI express was introduced in '04 his is an '05 so I'm guess his will be AGP but only 75% sure. Right now Circuit City has a 512 MB ram stick for 25 bucks(PC3200 DDR 400, Non ECC) great deal I'm up grading Thursday. Since I have 50 bucks(dual channel memory IT SUCKS! 2 at once!). There's a 7800 GS EVGA from newegg.com for 120 bucks with mail in rebate. LINK. Make sure your power supply is at least 400 watts for this video card. The 7800 GS is actually the GT version just 8 pipelines are disabled. DO THAT AT YOUR OWN RISK! and this version is substantially overclocked by the manufacturer. 430 core, stock 375; 650 mem, stock 600.

Hope it helps unless yours is DDR2 and PCI express.

EDIT: Oh and about the Norton get rid of it get AVG anti virus and Zonealarm firewall all 100% free and they work flawlessly with my computer(Except for the pop-ups for firewall permission on fullscreen games).
