I've noticed a lot of topics in this forum, but most are devoted only to new features and multiplayer. Has anyone thought about the storyline? There are some Earth-based levels so obviously we are going home at some point. And there are supposed to be low gravity environments like the moon, but what is the significance of what little they've told us about the campaign? I don't think I've read enough to make an accurate guess, but does anyone have any thoughts about the story?

I THINK the story will start off with earth being battered by the covenant and missions will be based around taking them out. then, for no apparant reason they all leave. master cheif follows them/sneaks onboard and finds out that theres been another huge flood outbreak in the galaxy (which is how the second ring comes into play) after afew more battles in covenant space the situation gets grim. then the UNSC and the Covenant become allies and form a truce to get rid of the flood infestation thats crippling them (imagine fighting side by side with elites) at the end there is an awkward peace between humanity and the covenant as neither side can continue the war effort due to the crippling effects of the flood but it leaves it open for a possible second war......

Earth gets scared by battles of course. You somehow find the whereabouts of the covie homeworlds( which are hopefully all close by) as well as another ring near these planets. The MC is then sent out to the Ring and releases the Flood, and then after some battles on the ring, the MC sets the ring off while still on the ring killing himself but the Flood and Covies at the same time.

I like those ideas but personally, I hated the Flood. They were good enemies, but mainly annoying most of the time. I would hate to see them return.

Well, we know how we end up back at earth from "First Strike", and we know why/how the Cove' found Earth searching for the "artifacts"...no doubt we'll get the Earth Artifact before the Cove', then it'll be some kinda pull the Cove' out of the way, or do something with the other one's we've retrieved and use them maybe to get rid of the Cove'....Earths gonna get a serious kicking though. And then there's Sparky, sheesh, he could get up to no end of mischief, am sure he'll pop up related to the Artifact though to interfer like he does, and we know Cortana has issues with being duped and her accelerated aging...will she flip out on us Durandal style? ohhh so much to look forward too :) And then never know, we might even get a chance to hand it back to the Cove' at some point also. Was a rumour at some point we get captured and taken back to the Cove' home world (very possible if you watch the end of the E3 2003 video), where we meet Prophets and escape and go on a killing spree on there terf for once....soooo much to guess, and so much to look forward too :)

Useless - yes; but also fun.
