I've learned to love most of the maps, with the exception of Chiron, of course.
Sidewinder does seem a little uninspired, but it's still a great CTF, Slayer, and Assault map.
As for Infinity, well, it's large, that's for sure. Just try to use more strategy on that one. Wait for others to coordinate an assault. That is the only way to be really effective on that map if there is good base defense set up.
Gephyrphobia can be allright at times. Probably my least favorite level. I really dislike it when people just whore the Banshees the whole time though.
Ice Fields has another great design, but it's really easy for one team to lock down certain portions of the map. When this happens you can't do anything. Coincidentally, neither can they when your entire team is at the base. Probably one of the most aggravating levels due to the limited number of ways to the base.
Something must be done about that Danger Canyon sniping spot. What sort of camper ever conceived of an area with unlimited sniper ammo and a recurring OS? I really hate it when people camp that spot the whole game. I swear sometimes good snipers will join that level JUST to camp up there and nail people. Do they ever actually make an attempt to get the flag? Nope. And they quit right after the game is done too.
Those are a few of my gripes. All in all, most of the levels are pretty well-designed. The more you play, the more you learn to take advantage of what's given to you in terms of weaponry, powerups, vehicles, and terrain.
