Hey, just wondering if anyone has any really good CTF strategys for 4v4 on Blood Gulch. I usually play on blue, so i'm looking for strategys for that base, but I wouldn't mind hearing red team strategys

keep using the tele and vehicles dont defend keep attacking so all of your enemy has to defend. (red team is better for that map at least it seems)

Ya, red team is the better one only because there teleporter is right next to the rocket launcher.

Red's better for a million reasons. But let's see about both sides . . .

Red:
You've got a RL near tele. Your tele is in the dark, surrounded by hills all around. this means you have more cover when you teleport. Blue's is MUCH more exposed.

You have a great sniper poinit behind your base. better yet, get a scorpion up there, face tank backwards, behind a rock for safety against rockets, and pummel with no remorse. red also has the lightside wall to snipe from and view the whole map. use tunnels to get an annoying vantage point against blue. use darkness to enter blue base unseen and unopposed.

and the "greatest" advantage is that using a ghost, you can get ontop of the blue's base. read: spawn killing ownage 7ime. (go inside the cubbie hole in ghost behind their base, hit the little hill full speed, hit A, and stick the landing).

blue:
you've got easy tunnel networks to get to red. hope you're patient though. don't teleport too often. good red's will watch the teleporter like a hawk and own you up. blue can get away with using teleporters to get flag home, red's much more exposed that way (b/c blue's teleporter is much more open than the red's tele).

use your dark color as blue to your advantage whenhiding in the dark. (esp. good on SWinder). You can use the tunnel opening to annoy red ppl, esp. those teleporting. if you can,use their own snniper spot in the very back cornor to annoy them, but only use it for high threat targets (i.e., ppl with flag about to score). once you fire, you forfeit a good spot.

in all cases, use vehicles as much as possible in attacking. if you can attack with two WH's, the better. one stops for the flag, the other keeps moving and firing.

another technique involves the flag bearer to sneak in unseen, calls in getaway driver, picks up flag, and exits the base as the WH approachs the backdoor. makes for a quick exit with little time to counter (it may be benefitial to do a chinese fire drill, allowing the flag bearer who will probably have full sheilds to drive).

always talk to your team. let'em know who has flag, where its at. tell 'em when the RL, and SR have respawned. if you can,put diff. teams in diff. rooms. that also makes things easier on the "lvl of b17ching" going on, as well as promotingi team work.

always helps to have a frodo like sneak/theif on the team. the guy who forgoes killing to get flags and hide. get this guy a shotgun and RL. he can sit in the enemy's base and wait for the right moment. this means if they're trying to return the flag, he can blast 'em. or he can call in WH's and other support to get out of the base. pateince is the key to true success. don' tbe obsessed with killing. that's not the point of CTF. also talk about engagements, where ppl are and such. often it is BENEFITIAL TO NOT KILL PPL. remember, if you kill someone, they respawn at their base. so if your team is trying to get the flag, killing an attacker gives 'em one more defender. so don't be concerned about letting pplkill you and getting closer to your flag! let the other team close in on the attack. your theif will do his thing, call in help, grab the flag, and run for it. that's when you can go back on killing sprees, removing any obstacles to his own success. got it?

hope that helps a little

The best way to snatch the flag in Blood Gulch was explained to be fully by one video that I downloaded from halo.bungie.org. It provided me with some great ways to drop in ( sometimes literally) on the enemy and nick the flag on all the most popular CTF maps (Sidewinder, Blood Gulch, Hang 'Em High and Battle Creek). The Blood Gulch tips and tricks help a great deal on giving you quick hits to the enemy base. The most useful is probably this one:

(by the way this can only work if you have BOTH Warthogs in your control, the best to gain control of 2 Warthogs way is simply kill the first enemy that attacks you with their Warthog)

THIS MOVE WILL NEED A LOT OF PRACTICE TO WORK IF YOU DON'T ALREADY KNOW HOW TO DO THE FIRST TRICK, AND A LITTLE PRACTICE (TO GET THE TIMING RIGHT) IF YOU KNOW HOW TO DO THE FIRST TRICK

Step 1: Set up the charge

You get in one warthog, your team mate (who you trust a lot) gets in the other Warthog (you are both the drivers). Feel free to lob some extra friends in your Warthog (both side seat and gunner) but in the other Warthog make sure that one space is free (the best is the gunner seat, but the easiest is the side seat)

Step 2: The Approach
Charge towards the enemy base, but make sure that your Warthog is a considerable amount infront of the other Warthog (around 8-10 seconds).

Step 3: The Trick (most important for a quick attack)
There's 1 outcome and 2 tricks.
Trick 1: Charge towards the base and turn right (before you get there) and press X simutaneously and then press jump. You should be flung up in the air and on top the top floor of the base.

Trick 2: Charge towards a small rock near the base (there's one for each base) and line up the charge so when you get out you hit the rock. Then time it so that when you charge, get out and press jump you will be flung into the air (higher than trick 1).
* Trick 2 is better because you go higher in the air giving you time to kill any enemies on the roof, Trick 1 simply slides you up the wall.
* At the same time your team mate in the other Warthog should be charging at the enemy base in his Warthog, but instead of the trick he should be making his way CLOCKWISE around the enemy base.
* It's also a good idea for your friends to get out of your Warthog and storm the enemy base (but make sure that they keep in mind that it is YOU that is taking the flag). Make sure they don't get in the way, kill them (melee with the flag, if no weapon available) if they do.

Step 4: The Escape
When on the top of the enemy base run and drop down the hole to grab the flag. Head towards the back entrance/exit (make sure you stay inside the base, we don't want no accidents to screw the plan up) and if you've timed it right then your team mate will be passing (full throttle) passed the entrance/exit for you to press X and jump in the warthog. It doesn't matter TOO much if he, or you are a LITTLE late, it just increases the chance of the enemy taking you out. It is easier to get in the side seat but if you dare attempt the gunner seat (and pull it off) then you can have you covering in the gunner while one team mate drives and the other covers using the passenger.

Step 4: The Long Haul Home
Head back to base, and please make sure you don't screw it up by getting killed!

If you follow this correctly it is bound to leave the enemy bewildered and confused only knowing that you've scored a point.

Red is much better and even if it werent id stil be red cause they are way cool.=) They have:

-quick rocket launcher
-covered portal
-shade
vantage points

really they've got everything going for them but I do know 2 blue strategies. 1 go through the caves and exit with the overshield, killage! Powerups are closer.

but the other guys took all the good stuff, since the above strategy is really hard here's an easy one that works no matter where you are for these work for 2 vs 2 and up. park a warthog or ghost near the enemy's teleporter get your partner to cover it with a shotgun, then sneak into the enem base grab the flag teleport hop in the hog and home, while your partner stays and kills anyone trying to catch you.

Another is the gunnerseat launch where the person in the gunner seat launches at the enemy's base grabs the flag while you go around and pick him up, easy, no.

that's all I can think of at the moment, but remember planning is good but keep the plans simple and make sure you have a backup plan or are able to bail out or else your screwed, that's the problem with complicated plans 1 little thing screws tup the whole plan
