Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

it is the mods job to enforce them

"Job" implies they receive payment.

"prerogative" is a much more suitable word, as it implies they have the ability to enforce, not that they have to. Refer to my previous post about "self-moderating" for my point.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

Thats cause, as much as the mods do see, trying to keep track of over a million users, creating millions of threads and billions of posts per day is a bit impossible, even with twice as many mods as there are now. They do their best, and missing the occasional thread happens. The do have lives outside of the forums as well.

Just because my post contradicts his doesn't make us both wrong. We are making assumptions based on our observations. I have been a moderator on many sites and admin on a few, and honestly the way things work is not like most people think. You are basically a empowered member given the right to end threads when they need to be, or perform basic forum maintenance. I do not know the extent of Nedus' experience, but he could also be right. Sometimes moderators will let a thread go merely for the purpose of letting people vent and get their spamminess out, or because they know it will just burn out itself.

Sometimes the thread could just not be worth the effort.

I agreed with his overall statement, not what he said word for word, BTW.

I've seen the thread, and decided to not act. Moderating is much like babysitting, but do I really need to be taking care of the teens as well?
Surely you guys are wiser than that, and so it turned out to be. You managed to settle things with out interference. And I applaud you for that ( no sarcasm).

I just got my vacation, and I don't plan to spend it worrying about the forums, so I decided to stop moderating for now, and only take care of things when it truly is needed (this thread was no such case), or if I just feel like hitting that lock button.

As for the whole "rule", I don't see much of a need for it. The CoC pretty much takes care of it. I see why people would want it, but we shouldn't have to pen down every tiny bit of rule. If we feel such an attack at a join date is taken too far, that's when i will take care of it.

It is an interesting thing though, elitism. It's not entirely a bad thing. Some people are better than you. Some are better gamers, some are better posters, some have better values, and some are smarter.

Not every person in this community is equal. Some contribute more and some are obnoxious whores. Does a person's start date matter? Well, yes, it does. Really I don't care when someone joined here. But if someone is going to talk about what the forum was like in '03 compared to now then they should have at least been there. Also, people that have been here longer probably understand the rules better, have seen the ninjas at work, and respect the site more so than the newer members.

This is just a reality. It doesn't make it right or wrong. But elitism does have it's place. Deal with it.

/I don't disrespect the newer members at all. I was new at one point. But there is a learning curve.

I've even seen mods use this when some member is 4 days old and talking about "how bad this site is".

"Job" implies they receive payment.

Profession is actually the word that implies they get paid but sure, you keep living in your 2nd grade vocabulary world..

This is a perfect example. Your post is inflammatory and you're a brand new member. If was just inflammatory and you were an older member I might see it differently. Instead you're just a troll.

There's nothing to discuss here. Spamming and flaming are against the rules, period.

The Frozen Minority; Bungie's real underground. The oldest members, the deepest controversy, walking infamy.

Locked for being a stupid, off topic, flamefilled thread.

You sit there and discussed what? Ninja motives, the role of Ninja's, Twinkie's problems and even the correct class of employment the Ninja's belong to?

My God, so pointless to the OP. This is the best example of "Let's make a thread about the community so it looks like we are intelligent, conscious members!" Do something constructive instead.

Elitism is put down, whether you see it or not but, I believe if any of you had your way, the older members would be treated like absolute dirt, as would the new members. None of you could practice what you preach so don't bother preaching.
