I will go ahead and let everyone know that I am not the most mature person around here and in some cases have I been immature online.

I've been on the forums a lot today and have been reading posts where people are talking about maturity and how people need to grow up. Well also in those threads the same people that were posting to complain and give their opinions about this type of thing were being told in immature ways to grow up and get over it. They would then respond in an immature way.

I don't believe that is a good way to prove your point if you are going to complain about it and then be immature about a reply to your topic.

How do you feel about this?

Note: If this isn't in the right forum I'm sorry.

When people talk online, they get defensive about what they believe in.
In hellish forums such as the Halo 3 Forums, chances are you'll notice a lot more immaturity.

However, it should be noted that immaturity is much more noticeable than maturity. If you go around for a day and everyone respects you and acts mature, but one person insults you and acts immature, you'll be thinking about that one person at the end the day, wondering why people are so immature, and forgetting about the ones who weren't.

Most of the people in this forum are mature IMO, and all of my Live friends have at least a relatively good level of maturity.

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Your mom is mature, according to the label on her DVD!

Just kidding. There are tons of mature people here, buddy. Just keep an eye out. But you have to remember that this is not just any video game forum -- it's BNet. The culture here is to be a little bit more playful than on some other internet forums, and sometimes this comes off as immaturity. I'm sure that's not the kind of thing that you're talking about (I just came from the H3 Forum), but it's easy to find if you know where to look. Just check out some of the discussions in this particular forum, or in some of the private groups that center around more mature discussions.

There is a reason I am user ID 1 and my account creation date is before this site came online.

Yeah, it's kinda like a scavenger hunt to find the good members. It's what makes the process fun. I mean, if the mature members just came and threw themselves at you, where would be the fun in that?

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

I don't really believe that most people on here are immature by default, but I do think that Bungie.net doesn't reinforce positive behavior in the right way.

Check out the Woodshop!

I know several people in the forums, and on Live that are quite mature. The problem is, this is all video game based, and currently, adults are largely in the minority when it comes to members, and players. This is not to say that younger people are all immature, but with so many members that are so young, it is inevitable that the level of maturity will be watered down.

As you get older, you find that there are fewer, and fewer people out there that you can relate to. Real life has very few people in it that I truly like, respect, or relate to. I have a small but sure group of friends in RL that I depend on, and I rarely meet anyone I can add to the list. Some of the people I respect the most, and enjoy talking with, I have met on B.net, and XBL. They are very few and far between, but many of the friends that I've made in this very community are some of my favorite people, and rival the level of maturity presented by most of the adults I know in real life. In fact, about five of my favorite people on my friends list are under 18. (BTW, thanks Foman, Daft Whiteboy, and Slayer were great fun, and a great addition to my friends list.)

I believe that one of the problems is the fact that people are flamed so much, and so often accused of being immature, when the point doesn't need to be made. Don't shine a light on the silly ones, it only makes them stand out more. Also, you seem to notice the difference between this forum, and H3. There are other forums on B.net that are fun, and usually filled with more responsible, mature people. They are simply out numbered.

"Science without religion is lame. Religion without science is blind." - Albert Einstien

Surprisingly enough, Gepetto... most of the people I have played with are also over the age of 25. I am surprised at how much more cooperative a game with such people is. I can yell things out about the other team without hearing a 14 year old with an ego say something, "HOW COULD YOU DIE *&%$#, YOU $@#$#! SUCK AT THIS GAME" and then have him proceed to team kill me.

Anyways, I do know some mature people here, but maturity is hard to measure on a sight with anonymity and no way to sense their sarcasm level.

Oh, yeah, sure diss the teenagers, their the root of all evil arent they. And everyone over 25 is holier than the lord. Yeah, im getting tired of all the godforsaken ageist comments on XBL and this forum. I mean really, get over it and stop using young people as a scapegoat.

I actually don't think that it's a bad generalization to say that younger people are less mature, because, well, they are.
There are immature adults, but when they act that way, they may hear comments like "act your age" or "quit acting like a child" or anything in between.
There are also children and teenagers who are very mature for their age, but I've come to the conclusion that you can only really become so mature until you actually grow up. Plus, generally speaking, most teenagers and kids are immature.

Also, Nitro378, being mature or immature isn't the same as being good or bad.

All was shattered, and all but memory lost, and one memory above all others, of him who brought the Shadow and the Breaking of the World. And him they named Dragon.

Well, I don't really know that many people here. But the ones I know seems mature enough :P

If Bungie wants to take over the world, then they must deal with immaturity, the world is immature.
