I was going to make a topic about this! I am glad people feel the same way. Halo 1, my opinion, has the best FPS campaign, besides BioShock. But really, all Bungie needs to do is update the graphics and I would be satisfied; oh, and make the assault rifle and pistol exactly like it is in Halo 3. I mainly care about the graphics because Halo 1 has so much beauty in it. Online play isn't needed, and if Bungie were to do a remake of Halo 1, it wouldn't have any online play because it would take away from Halo 3. Online co-op, however, is a different matter.
I wouldn't mind a graphics update, if the graphics were simply enhanced by the additional processing power of the 360, but all I really want is the online play. Without that, I probably wouldn't buy it. For me, changes to weapons would also be a deterrent to that purchase. In my opinion, after live support, fewer changes are better. If they were concerned about it taking away from Halo 3, they could make it an add-on to Halo 3. I don't even know how feasible that would be, but it seems like it would be possible.
Perhaps the remake market is too segmented to make a remake worthwhile. There are probably a lot of people who want remakes for very different reasons.
Edit: You may have already heard this, but I just noticed that Halo, as well as other original Xbox games, will be available for download on the Xbox 360, as of December 4th. Here's the link: http://www.xbox.com/en-US/community/events/liveis5ive/livetur nsfive.htm. I don't know how this affects the chances of any remake.
