Btw - polls on bungie.net mean absolutely nothing

Hmm... well I'm pretty good with photoshop and saw people asking how to get that "comic" look well this is the best way I could figure out how. Anyone can correct me if its wrong or theres an eaiser way, and sry I've never used Gimp so couldn't tell you how to do it in that program.

Anyway heres goes I opened up the image in photoshop and then dupicted it to make there 2 of them (layer1 and Layer2) then On Layer2 I went to (at the top bar) Image>adjustments>shadow/highlight and I moved both sliders up to 100%, Then I went to Filter>Stylize>Find Edges.(Layer2 should now be White) I then set layer2 to Soft Light. To make it fit my taste a little better I then duplicated layer2 and set that new layer to 50% transparancy, and I was done. (I'm pretty sure this way doesn't darken them)

Hope that helped!

Heres a few examples (sry my screens suck so I browed a couple from Lukems to use as examples since they were so awsome)

1.Start
1.finished

2.Start
2.finished

3.Start
3.finished

Not to sure if thats the look you guys are going for are not.

Edit: Looking back on it now I think I need to do more to that idea cause it doesnt look quiet right. o well =\

Keman,

I really like your particular style of comic art. Granted it's definately not the norm for the average comic, but very unique in it's own right and when done right that's a plus.

One of the things I need to work on with my style is that the darker parts of my screenshots become more so with the effect I'm using. That's something I want to avoid because I really like my particular art style. It's a work in progress so I see potential to be had with enough time and effort. Anyway, thanks for the short tutorial. :)

I don't know what Corben is, but...I have a question for you guys, which one of these looks the best?
Link to image
1. The one I've been using. It's lighter and blurry.
2. It's more dark. But crisp.
3. A combination of 1 and 2. Dark and blurry.

I'm thinking I should switch to 2. Only because it looks better. But I figured I'd ask you guys?

I hope its in order. Story is pretty bland, but the art style is more important.

That comic is real good.

I'd go with a mixture of 1 and 2. And by that I don't mean 3. I mean you use 1 in some instances and 2 in others. If a certain frame gets very cluttered when using 2, switch to 1 instead. I like the less cluttered look a lot, but sometimes you want detail, and that detail is lost. 2 has detail, but looks distractingly dirty if there's a lot of detail. I really like both, though.

Looks like you're trying to use a Photoshop filter or other paint program filter similar to the one I use, although you're showing less detail than I typically do. So I give you points for the art style you've chosen at least. :)

As for the conversations between the 2 Spartans, well at times they're a bit random so it's hard to tell exactly what's going on. Also, I'm guessing based on the structure of the comments in those conversations that English is not your first language? Not knocking you for that or anything, but those two things combined could be why the conversations don't quite flow correctly. My suggestion would be to work on the converstations by making them a little easier to understand. Either way though, good first attempt. :)

I was actually thinking about doing a comic, trying out a few strips to see how it went over. Thanks for the tips!

Although I'm pretty -blam!- good at photoshop, I used a filter in the program, Comic Life. Easiest way to make comics, by the way.

Take the screenshots, they should automatically upload to your service record on Bungie.net, and you go there and download them. Simple enough.

What if the pictures don't upload automatically to Bungie.net? Say if you're offline when you take the screenshot or some other problem prevents it from uploading. Is there a way to re-upload it?

Stop. Think. Post.

Hello Pretender, I've got a friend from the Praetoria Guard, he and a few of his friends have put together a pretty good comic strip series going. Go check it out and see what you think. Thank you.

Enjoy.

I had the same problem, only about a fourth of my shots uploaded. There's no way to resend them. You'll have to upload them all into your file-share, save them to your PC, remove them, and rinse and repeat.

Damn, that sucks. I've been using that method, but I figured there was a trick I didn't know. Well, here's to another Update hopeful.

As you can see by my file share, I'm doing the same thing (although I haven't actually done anything with those pictures yet). It's a hassle, but it works.

Yes that's me. I actually started this comic before Halo 3 was released back when Frankie and Luke posted their sample pages in the weekly update. But the reponse for it was so huge I decided to keep it going as it's own series and give it a dedicated webpage. News pages come out every week.

Thanks for the plug Marius.

"I react like an animal and tear you apart.'

"I don't play but I'm a player til the mother -blam!- end!"

Why is this stickied in the Halo 3 forum? I guess they're just trying to fill the first page completely w/ stickies. I think this should be moved to a different forum. I mean how many people actually make their own comics and to add to that how many people actually care enough that we need it to have it's own sticky in the most popular forum.
