Hi there.
I wanted to start a thread for people who want to talk about little gameplay things they'd like to see in Halo 2. Post your thoughts here.
REMEMBER: before you post, THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU REALLY WANT

1. note that the game comes out in only a few months..."better graphics" is too general and not going to happen, realistically, so don't even bother to post it. Keep it very simple and specific and put some thought into it.

2. like any other Halo fan, I was just wondering what others like myself would really like to see in the sequel. The next post will be some things I was thinking about. Look forward to hearing from you all!

Who knows, maybe Bungie will pick up some little gem here....

They want the 'Halo.' But I tell them: 'No! No Halo! For you, only the 'Frenzy'! The 'Frenzy' and maybe some 'Munch'

I hope that they change the way that the Chief holds the battel rifle. In the multiplayer vid, it looks terrible, at least in my opinion. I liked the way he held it in the 2003 E3 vid.

I would want lots of multiplayer models, like combat flood and grunts! Obviously not parasite flood. That's just stupid.

be able to use a dead guy or even living one as a sheild from enemy fire. using the tracking thing on the rocket launcher on ppl just not vehicles, double melee attack when dual weilding

and of course bots for multiplayer

Hello there. I have many ideas but I am too lazy to type lots of stuff.
Here are some of my thoughts:

* Able to lay down and snipe (forget the name of that)
* Able to peak arond corners
* A scope built into the visor
* Able to roll and dodge (like the elites)
* Able to do backflips with banshees

And so on...

Here's a couple things that I was thinking about.

1. Some sort of CONGRATULATORY GUESTURE for your teammates.

- in "First Strike", the Halo novel, the Spartans would make a smile motion on their helmets to indicate happiness. Some sort of "move" is needed to congratulate opponents on a particularly humiliating kill or defense for the flag, etc.
- This could be the "smiley guesture", a high-five (my personal favorite) or something else.
- All we have right now ingame is squatting quickly to mean a plethora of different things. Xbox Live will enable us to speak congrats to teammates, but there needs to be an ingame acknowledgement too.

2. You should be able to LIE DOWN WHILE SNIPING.

- I know what you're thinking, "that wouldn't be fair", but hear me out.
- Sniping should be allowed from a pronate position, just like real life. You could really set up somewhere and sneakily kill like a proper sniper, not easily seen.
- TO BALANCE IN MULTIPLAYER: all you have to do is make it so when lying down, when someone does finally spot you, you will be easier to kill than when running around.
- this could be two ways:
FIRST: when "pronate", on your belly, the move for getting up out of it would take a relatively long amount of time. When the shooting starts, you're in trouble.
SECOND: when pronate, your field of vision should be limited in movement. Just like in real life, when lying down with a sniper rifle, you can't just whip around the reticle 360 degrees. This allows people to sneak up on you. Pretty cool, huh?

Yes, the way he holds it looks unnatural and although you can see what colour your armour is this way, the 2003 demo holding of the Br is MUCH better. I really hope they change that.

The reload also sucks too, they need to have the safety lock thing on it!

You should be able to jump and roll like you see marines, elites and jackels doing it. That would realy piss off a sniper.

Also you should be able to drop your guns and really lay it into someone if you get up close.

Not bad suggestions. I have some to add on.

* When you need to reload, you need to get up and crouch. (gives other people a chance to kill you)
* Like you said, you are limited in sight. So when you set up, you can only move your cursor around the screen that is fixed on, you can't turn your body, only the gun.
* Gives other snipers one shot kills due to the head being the only body part visible.
* Must roll over and then stand up to get up.

Stuff like that.

that would be funny to see but really, its a fps, not a hockey game.

I am hoping for several really good multyplayer maps for a LAN party, and im looking forward to seeing masterchiefs head, when he takes off his mask in the end.

Remember guys, we all still want that original Halo feel. How would you like it if Bungie took all of your suggestions? I doubt you would like the end result.

Yes, some ideas are good, but lets not get too complicated. Lying and sniping is not a good idea to me. Just an opinion though.

Oh yeah, another thing: the game should be way more violent. I mean, it'll be rated "Mature" anyway, right?

1. GRATUITOUS DEATH ANIMATIONS

- I don't think that I'm alone here in thinking that the whole reason that you pick up and go again after you die in campaign is the fact that you get laughed at when you die. How deliciously enraging.
- If you die in Halo 2, it should be ridiculous. After all, you're a legend with them, now, right? The Covenant should shoot your corpse. An elite could pick your body up over his head, with Grunts swarming around him, laughing. That would motivate you to humiliate them next time, right? You die next to a cliff, they just cooly kick you off.
- ON THE COVENANT SIDE, if you say, shoot an Elite in the neck with a sniper rifle, he shouldn't just fall down, but slowly fall to his knees, then on his face, clenching his spurting neck wound, screaming...you get my drift.

2. DISMEMBERMENT

- The Halo universe has got some high caliber weapons in it. Do a google search and compare the calibers of the stuff in the Halo instruction manual to similar real life counterparts. These weapons through some serious lead, and Halo 2 should acknowledge that.
- If you snipe a Covenant alien in the arm, except perhaps the biggest baddies, their arm should be blown off. Shoot a grunt in the head with a shotgun at close range, they should have no head.
- THE ROCKET LAUNCHER: I doubt Bungie will want to incorporate any of this in what they surely feel will be a very broad-based game despite being rated M. If I shoot any living thing in the game the size of or smaller than the Master Chief, there should be nothing left but two smoking boots. I mean, come on.

ALSO, there should be instances along the lines of catching Covenant while eating, on the John, etc. Perhaps something like in Saving Private Ryan where the wall falls down and inside are a bunch of surprised German soldiers, defenseless.

P.S. Have you ever noticed that the only things that game companies are willing to let the player kill by the truckload without remorse are 1. ROBOTS 2. ALIENS 3. MONSTERS and 4. -blam!-S? I think that's pretty funny.

This might already be a close kept secret, and part of the game, but i would like to play as a grunt, or jackal, or brute in multiplayer....so far we have only seen elites and MC's playable in multiplayer....although, i think it would be neat if these characters are included in multiplayer to keep it a secret until the game is released, then everyone will be surprised... :)

But I don't think that any of that could ever replace corpse-humping. It's the ultimate pwnage.

I think that a smoke grenade would be nice to get to one corner to another. Or a flash bang is good to.

that stuff would be cool, and you should be able to kick corpses around and what would REALLY be good is if your death isnt cut off like in halo 1, for instance, after about 4 seconds when you die, you spectate another player, or if in single player you just respawn, i want to keep spectating my corpse as it flies around or is falling a great distance, its funny!

Also you should be able to kill covenan or flood via the environment, such as if a covie squad is going under a overpass you should be abble to blow the over pass up with a rocket or something and it comes tumbling down on them and crushes them.

Also you should be able to befriend covenant in single player, like if a squad of covies were decimated by flood and there was one elite left and was being attacked by a bunch of flood, and you kill the flood and help him survive, you should be able to make a friendly gesture towards him and maybe he wont attack you, and will help you kill other floods and stuff.

and I dont want any other models except the elites and MC's in multiplayer, that would suck ass sooo much, I mean, why would you rather be a grunt as appose to an MC or elite, you wouldnt as you die in 1 hit, its just stupid.
