Hi, can someone explain to me what i need to get an ethernet port, like an ethernet modem on my computer. I want to get xbox live, but currently my modem is connected to my computer thru USB, and if i get a router, then it will need to be an RJ-45 port. Can someone please help me to tell me what i need to buy. I need an Ethernet port, but i keep getting resulty like "network adapters" and stuff. Are they the same things? Should i just get a network adaptor and that will do it for the connection to my computer?

Any help would be greatly apprecteated!

Network Adapters and NIC Cards are the exact same thing. That's what you should be looking for. Standard networking uses RJ-45 jacks and that's what these cards add to your system.

And by plugging an RJ-45 cord from the router (which would be connected to the cable modem) to the card would result in a connection correct? Also, what would you guys suggest? (for a relatively cheap card)

Yes, although it was a -blam!- to set up this one.

Any NIC card should do.
