Subject: Good group idea, IRC server.

I'm not that active, but never dead.

If you didn't get it, individual groups CAN MAKE THEIR OWN CHANNELS. All it takes is some minimal effort by the founder and you have your own chat room. That's what Chris547 did when he made #moap....

I just think it would be much easier for the founder who wants a place for him and his friends to talk, but has no idea how to make a public / private chatroom or any idea about what IRC is, it would be nice to click a link on the homepage of the group, and start talking.

It means that someone has responded to your thread within a certain amount of time, how much, I do not know.

Note: Some of this may not be true.

Some?!

-TGP-

The only things I saw were: "The default channel is #moap, which stands for mob of angry peasants", and "where you can chat with other people that post on bungie.net".

Oh, and the Webmaster plus icon means that the thread has been posted in within the last 30 minutes.

Thanks, it also says that in the help section.

It was a cold day near the southern base in Blood Gulch. Cortana and I were relaxing over a game of Go Fish, WHEN OUT OF NO WHERE 700 BANSHEES CAME FLYING IN!!! I GRABED MY SPARTAN LASER AND LET HELL REIGN DOWN UPON THEM. I HOPPED IN THE NEAREST WARTHOG AND TOLD CORTANA TO GET IN.

Back, I wonder if bungie would allow eggdrops / other bots in IRC, if their were one.

Why do people in ship mutinies always ask for "better treatment"? I'd ask for a pinball machine, because with all that rocking back and forth, you'd get a lot of free games.

Maybe in order to understand mankind, we have to look at the word itself: "Mankind". Basically, it's made up of two separate words - "mank" and "ind". What do these words mean? It's a mystery, and that's why so is mankind.

how come I get yelled at when I meantion #moap, and elm flaunts it around?

*ARCKEDA sighs, I guess no one is really intrested. I wish someone like Achronos would comment and tell me flaws in my idea...

Bungie listens to its fans! ^.^ | Ninja .II./ You
RCG: In ur base, steelin' ur flagz. | Watch the demo, then join the carnage!

The flaws in your idea are many.

1) There's already an entire server dedicated to Bungie Chat Goodness - irc.bungie.org. The server is owned by KP, and while it's not officially run by Bungie, there would really be no difference if it were.
2) Policing an IRC server would be very time/resource consuming, so why start a new one when there's one already set up?
3) If you want groups to be able to talk to each other, then just put a Sticky in the group forum with a link to http://www.gabbly.net/<<URL OF GROUP PAGE HERE>>. That adds a chat window to the page that anyone using Gabbly will see if they are on the same page. For instance, here's the Gabbly URL for the Bungie.net group for moap: http://www.gabbly.com/www.bungie.net/fanclub/moap/Group/Group Home.aspx - although no-one's using it, of course, they are all on IRC. [;
4) It's really really easy to make your own channel on irc.bungie.org. Just type /join #randomchannelname and that channel will be created. You can then register it and give out powers to people if you want, although usually there's no real need to.

Look, to try and be as Achronos'y as possible, I'll even quote your post below my reply. Although I doubt you'll listen to anything that isn't gold texted. ]:

I'll be on my own side.

Protip #1 - If someone mentions "coke.soffish.com" in your channel, ban them immediately.

Protip #2 - If someone named "Newnab", "Nab", or "N48" enters your channel, ban him immediately.

Protip #3 - Test out every single obscene word you can think of until you get an automated warning from KP. This is a stress test to see if your channel can handle spam attacks.

Have fun!

Sure, MoAp is a great place to go to if you're bored. You can honestly talk about nothing and sometimes you can talk about something. It's just a fun place to go to, but there are sometimes when everyone is AFK and it's boring as well.

Join the server. Make a channel. That's all there is to it.

Alternatively! As outlined in my previous post, gabbly chat.

Many people know nothing about IRC, a client embeded in the group home would help!
