Subject: Community Projects: Bungie.net Forged Map Contest

Old school Bungie, born and raised,
In the Septagon is where I spend most of my days.
Relaxin', maxin', posting all cool,
Talking about Halo, life and some school.
Got in one little argument, and the mods got scared,
they said "You're gonna get banned and your member title'll be bare!"

First of all, if you haven't heard of Community Projects, you should really check us out! Just like Workers' Unions, Community Projects unifies Bungie.net Members and their ideas. We focus on bringing community involvement to Bungie.net through positive action. Contests like this are only the tip of the iceburg of what we have planned. Join and help plan other Community Projects like this, knowing you are helping the community!

Now to the meat of the issue.

Community Projects: Forged Map Contest
Got a sweet new version of High Ground? Some interesting gametype/map combo? How about some wacky, new use of all of the scenery elements of Forge? How about entering them for a chance to win!

While one winner will be selected from all entries, several Honorable Mentions will be chosen based on other criteria. This contest is open to anyone, but you must follow the rules closely! But what do you win, you ask? How does 1600 Microsoft Points sound?!

Contest Rules:*
>All entries are to be submitted via PM to myself, Prometheus25.
>Every contestant can submit upto 3 individual maps.
>All entries must be received by 12:01 AM Eastern Time on November 21st. No exceptions.
>You must include a link to your published map, as well as a link to the appropriate game variant it works best with or the name of the Halo 3 default game variants. Entries that do not have these will be discarded.
>Any other relevent information should also be included (recommended players, etc.)
>You must include your gamertag with your entry, even if you submit an entry with a linked account.
>If the winner does not reply within 3 days, a new winner will be selected.

Submission Format:
Gamertag: Prometheus25
Map: Name of Map
Game Variant: Name of Variant
Additional information:
8-12 players
2 teams

One winner will be selected based on Creativity, Originality, Integrity (you're map doesn't fall apart[/i], and general fun-ness. The judges are volunteers selected within Community Projects. The selected winner, after being receiving confirmation, will receive a 25-digit code for 1600 Microsoft Points.**

Runner-ups will be selected based on individual qualities. These may include Second-best map, most creative map, worst map, and others. These Honorable Mentions will likely not receive any prizes.

Good luck, and get Forging!

All questions can be voiced in the Community Projects appropriate thread.

Judging Process:
The judging will take place in three stages. The first will consist of a basic run-through of the maps, to determine their integrity, and a rough basis on originality. Then, the maps will all be played through, and I will determine those maps (whatever number is appropriate) that go on. After that, I will run games through all the maps again, with different people, and will take a vote on which ones they enjoyed, along with my own decision

*All rules are subject to change without notice.
**1600 Microsoft points are guarunteed, but efforts may be made to increase number of prizes.

To be honest, I am glad to see this. It is great to see, however I do have one question, what ever happened to the 7th Column Project? Sure, it was slow, but we had good ideas none the less. And, now that I know there is another community group that has been created for this purpose, I will most definatly be joining.

I don't know, never heard of it.

But if there are good ideas to be salvaged from it, by all means, please do!

Good luck everyone. I am going to try to get another prize to go with the Microsoft Points.

Ah, my apologies, I thought you created the group; however, apparantly, I am/was mistaken. None the less however, I am overjoyed that there is another group to support the community.

Prometheus, your plan has one flaw. What if someone from another country besides the US wins? Your MS points won't be valid.

I...uh...hmm...

We'll cross that bridge when it comes. For now, the prize stands at 1600 Microsoft Points. If the winner is indeed from outside the US, we'll make appropriate, and equal, compensations.

You missed the point like Vader missed the banshee, your whole argument is covered in bees.
Stop sending me group invites -blam!-s!

Is that true? Can't you just enter the redeem code into marketplace anyway?

Guys make sure you PM all the entries to Prometheus, otherwise they will not count and you won't be able to win. Good luck to everyone.

Permit, come on now, your trying to make a gametype? You've barely even been in customs. Leave the customs to the rest of the clan. :)

  • 11.05.2007 2:58 PM PDT

Sounds cool! I am going to enter once I get my maps & game types in my file share.

I would assume it would be several days, if not weeks, after the deadline. There are going to be several stages to the judging, and it will probably take a decent amount of time to widdle it down to a couple of maps.

The 21st is my first day of vacation from school, so I should have them done a few days after.

Mourne not your comrades who must dwell / too strong to strive -
Within each steel-bound coffin of a cell, / Buried alive;
But rather mourne the apathetic throng / The cowed, and the meek -
Who see the world’s great anguish and its wrong / And dare not speak.

[group]167741|Diner|Where's the food?[/group]

Cool. I should have some free time over the next week, so hopefully I can get something in.
