Why have you got 'Customized Poll' in your subject line?

Anyway, the reason we don't have custom avatars is cause stupid people would use stupid pictures that would offend other users. Sure, most of us WANT one, but it isn't going to happen.

Unless you make a accepted theme for the 7th Collumn groups or become a mod (both highly unlikly)

I can understand Bungie's decision. If you can make a theme, then you deserve an custom avatars, If you become a mod, You deserve one. Some people are very stupid and can a bit outer hands. Trust Bungie this was for your own good.

  • 12.16.2004 5:32 AM PDT

No. It would be bad. The current avatars do nicely.

  • 12.16.2004 7:37 AM PDT

bah

I agree that custom avatars for everyone would be a bit hectic. I still say let the mods preview every avatar submission and accept them. But the other half of me says that having a smaller number of avatars is a good thing.

I will, of course, still work my butt off doing everything in my power to get my own. I doubt my first theme will get approved, but I'm already working on modifying it to look a little better.

ha i'm working on a second (and third) theme too! just to get a personal avatar, or something.
PS. when did they ever say you would get a personal avatar if your theme gets selected?

I heard that the avatars are something like: "Hard-wired" into the site, so they are hard to change or put up new ones, so you can imagine how that would make it extremely difficult for them to have everyone making their own and uploading them to the site, I would probably make it a lot slower too. Then there's the common content issue, these avatars are fine, if you're so bent on having your own avatar then submit a theme, or go to some other forums.

There is no chance at all that custom avatars for everybody will EVER happen.

Zero chance.
None.
Not ever going to happen.

This is a case of a small group of people ruining it for the rest of us, but that's what happens when you have a population this large.

How large is the Population?

I'm pretty sure Bungie.net has around 500 000 users at the moment. Holy crap - That's half a million.

Imagine the space needed to host half a million custom avatars.

PS. am i the only one that has voted four times? i now seem to have that with all the polls. If i wait a second i can vote again.

  • 12.16.2004 3:52 PM PDT

That seems to happen sometimes. Long long ago, in the time before Reiginko was a Mod (but still in the New Hotness era), I voted about 6 times in my own poll about banning water or something (dihydrogen monoxide).

Nah. Someone got wise, and told everyone what Dihydrogen Monoxide was. Kinda killed the thread. :(

If water didn't got banned, how come I can't get any water out of my tabs? Maybe I should start paying my water-bills?

I think if you are a good respectable member who has been here for over a year and a half you should be allowed to more bungie themed avatars.

No... the custom avatars are for the Mods and Supreme Overlord Achronos.... that's it... not everybody should get them because not everybody deserves them...

Or people that submit a theme that Bungie then uses.

yes, that is why. some people would most likely put an obscene(sp?) picture in their avatar. of course not everyone, but you have to sacrifice many for few

I'm just wondering, IF a theme that we submit gets accepted, are we allowed to use non-bungie related avatars - that arn't offensive ofcourse - or must we use bungie-fied pictures? Cause I really wana use my Coke avatar (the one I use with MSN). But if you can't, I have some backups in store.
