Bring friends who don't -blam!-.

Screen look like mad.

To keep fighting down to a minimum (the physical variant that is), situate different teams on different tv's in different rooms. This also solves screenlooking if you suck at it. And it promotes team work as well. And ppl are less inclined to -blam!- across walls, dorms, or houses, than they would if they were in the same room.

If in a particular stalemate, advertise food. E.g., if both teams have each other's flag, oftentimes introducing cookies, or breakfast, or something will encourage some of the other team to leave. Beware however, they may eat all your food. So they kinda get the last laugh anyways.

Have a good stash of movies on hand as well. And nothing deep. I can't stand ppl who want to watch anime: they demand quiet and it requires constant watching to understand what's going on.

Use sniper rifle, and a good spot to tell teammates what is all going on. And snipe like mad. It pisses ppl off like nothing else.

Have an annoying mix cd. Nothing erodes teamwork, coordination, and moral than playinig a pissa$$ god-awful soundtrack blasted into your ears. If done correctly, the other team will give up fairly quickly.

Plan ahead! Know who and how many are coming, how many xboxes, controllers, and tv's you have. And hubs. Lots of ethernetn cables require going through a hub. And above all notice where all the power plugs are. make sure you bring long cords and splitters.

Good hunting!

easy give em a TV that sucks is small and is to bright give em the off brand controllers and basicly what ever Jager said and it works perfectly although you should practice and memorise maps and be cheap and camp and all that stuff ppl -blam!- about and you will be fine

This is what i do:

If there is space (i.e., 3 or fewer xboxes present at the LAN), bring your own xbox and small tv (think 16"). This is only for yourself. You'll get great resolution, control of the volume, and no -blam!-y xbox partners.

Now, b/c you're small and "mobile" with your "tiny" tv, situate yourself where you deem necessary. Tyipcally, behind everyone else where you get a full view of their tv, but your's is so small, they can't make much out on it anyways.

Practice not being noticed. That acdtually means not killing ppl. (as hard as it is to resist). you'll score a hell of a lot more often on CTF games and the like if you can move around without being noticed. this includes using invisibility, tunnels, and basically knowing how to get yourself lost on a map. too many ppl just try to kill everyone, its easy to score if you *really* want to. or ruin the other team's day. (hide in their own base for practice. its a lot of fun).

if you're red on BG, get a ghost. there's a little hole in the back wall of the canyon, starting there, drive as fast as possible towards the base. Using a nice little hill, and holding A, you can actually land on top of the blue base. now commencce to spawn kill with reckless abandon. if down properly, you'll never die.

Use the scorpian to spawn kill like mad.

Make sure teammates sweap the base before you enter. saves yourself from rude encouters.

Know maps like Boarding Action forwards and backwards. Know cheap little trips such as how to get through the bars on sidwinder.

if a guy has a gf, make her come as well. that usually keeps him from leaving early, as well as provides more cannon fodder. i'm constantly amazed at how often girls become addicted to halo even more so than some of the guys playing . . .

Have small phrases that everyone knows the meaning too. Helps with the teamwork. "Pickup backside," "on the wall," "dog jumping west," "dink," "el perro brinca oeste", "tengo el bandera" stuff like that. communication is hugely important is being successful.

don't be predictable. change your routes, your campinig spots, your weapon choices. i never cease to be amazed at how predictable and easy ppl become to kill at LANs.
