Why should it be allowed to ban if someone is horribly lagging? Maybe they don't have the best connection or internet service, Should they be perminatly banned? I have satilite internet and the lowest my ping has ever been was 800. From what I see thats pretty High. THe highest my ping has ever been (for longer then 1 min) was 1800. They keep telling me to leave and to sign back in. Thats not gona help me! Its perminate LAG! I keep getin banned! I just wana play HALO! Is that so wrong? Would you want to be banned if you were in my position. And don't say get better service, DSL and CABLE don't go where I live. I'm lucky that the satilite even works! It isn't ment for gaming. Thank you. : |

That's really unfortunate and I feel for you... really. The thing is, at the end of the day the majority rule, so if you are the one lagging a game out the server administrator has no choice but to ask you to leave... If you choose not to do as you are asked, you will get yourself kicked or banned.

Halo seems to suffer with lag at the best of times and a ping of 800 at best won't be tolerated I'm afraid. When you consider that a lot of people consider a ping of over 150 to be high, you can see where I'm coming from...

I have always tried to be patient with people who have bad connections having been on dial up myself in the past, but you have to draw a line somewhere...

There's not really a lot you can do. Unless you can obtain a better connection, which you say you can't, this problem won't go away. The only viable option that's open to you is LAN, but I can appreciate that it's not ideal.

You are just unfortunate and I'm sorry, but nothing is going to change whilst you have your current connection. Where are you based? It sounds as if you are far from civilisation, and if that's the case you are going to be stuck.

If you want, I will set up a server and try to have a game with you (or vice versa). Apart from that...

Heck I'll even set up a server too my fav is race so let me know. I hate the lag too but cant see not being able to play. But most people arn't so forgiving.

Heyyo,

Here's the main reason, at pings above 300 or so, people don't lag, but WARP around your screen... so if you're trying to kick their asses, it's pretty annoying when they instantly move off to the side an extra 3 inches every second...

If you think aboot it, ping is measure in miliseconds, 800 miliseconds is 0.8 seconds... so that's not far off from a whole second of delay, and that's pretty fatal dude.....

One thing you can do is find a game with multiplayer ai and game on that. Most HL1 mods have a bot, and someother great games like the Battlefield series, Tribes 2 (freeware! w00t! so get this free game! great AI too!), and countless others.

Now, for HaloCE, some maps have bots included in them, but they're still pretty dumb... like standing still and dying as they shoot you kindof thing...

Since you have satelite, you could try getting a T1 connection... of course that costs you more than an arm and a leg, but more like a kid or two to go with it...

I was on dial up earlier this year for a few months cause I moved back home, found out I was outta range for adsl, got stuck on cable... I prefer adsl cause I would've had no limit on my dl and upload, but whatever, at least sometimes I get decent pings...

Hey, I've got's an idea! is there any internet cafe near ya? you could always just go to one and game like, bi-weekly online.. sure that's a little expensive, but at least it's better than getting banned or kicked from laggin'...

People can ban you for whatever damn reason that want. I've had people ban me just because they didn't like the name I used, despite the fact that I wasn't even in the server for 10 seconds before getting banned.

No internet cafe, 5 miles from town which is too far for DSL or CABLE and you guys are cool but there's no way I'm stayin off line. So..... VIVA LA CRAPY CONNECTION!!

Hmm, i havent been banned but i have had lag problems. I have a 56k dial up with a comp that barely plays Halo. My lag usualy(in a good game with less than 6 players) hovers between 200 and 400. Basicly the only time i start to lag is when a person with a bad connection comes in then my lag sky rockets to between 1000 and 2500, and the game becomes UNBERABLE, but i either quit or the "lagger" leaves/gets banned. So for a tip, find games with a lower ping >500 and not many players, it just helps.
