so i put it in here seeing as the word pc is used in this forum....

Ok guys im not really much of a computer guy but ive noticed i can play the halo trial on my sisters computer and not on mine and when i try to play it on mine is says stuff like Mhz :S

But anyway - is it the graphics card? where do you get graphics cards and how you put them into your computer and how do you know which one you have and (lol alot of questions) also how do you tape what you play on your screen?

  • 11.06.2007 6:34 AM PDT

You came tot he right place ;)
Its most likely the gfx card, You can get one on any computer website pretty much and the instructions will tell you how to install it.

Just wondering.... What brand is your computer?

Hello! Star Wars FTW. Also, join the MAW group. Please?

To help you we will need to know the spec's of your computer. To give us that information:
Type dxdiag in the 'run' box in the start menu
When dxdiag is done collecting information, click Save All Information.
Copy and paste here about the 30 first lines

Two different programs you can use to record what you play are called frapps and gamecam.

Bingo. Your CPU (main processor) is actually not bad, your RAM and Graphics card is where the blame is.
a stick of 1 gig DDR2 ram costs only around $80-100. Some stores go to $60 even.
As for graphics card, that needs a touch too. To put it into prespective: Your graphics card has 32 MB of display memory. The standerd now is 256-512MB.
Goodluck

Just looked it up, 1 GB of RAM would cost me £33 and the graphics card with 512 mb would cost me £60 - but the pictures of the things look like electro gizmos... how would i put them in if i were to buy them...

another question - my computer runs quite slow now that i have downloaded alot of crap onto it... is there a way to make it faster and would it run faster if i were tobuy those things ?...

Seeing as you don't have an actual graphics card, it's impossible to tell what cards you can install into your comp without actually looking at your motherboard. We can guess for you though. About when was your computer bought and for about how much?

And if your computer is running a lot slower for no reason, a virus/adware scan is always good to do. A new graphics card won't really speed up windows much, though RAM will help.

Ahh, English are we? :^)

There are a few things to keep in mind when buying computer parts.
You have to be sure that your parts can fit into your Motherboard/case. Usually, the case will fit. If it doesn't, then you can just cut it to your liking. A motherboard however, it isn't that simple. Seeing how your processor is pretty good, it's a good guess to take that it has a PCI-E slot. Which is the preferable slot for Graphics cards to date. Correct me if I'm wrong on this anyone, this is knowledge coming from the back of my thinking-of-other-things brain.

Check to make sure that your Ram is the correct type of your motherboard. Theres many types of ram units to complicate things. DDR, DDR2, and DDR3. The most common one used is DDR2, and that is the slots most computers have. Check your motherboard's brand, and what model number it is. Google it up and see what 'evidence' you can find on what slots your Motherboard has.
Your CPU, as I've said before, won't be needing a upgrade for a good time. It is half decent, and most games don't rely on a powerful CPU, although it does help.

Instalation of these parts are relitivly easy. There is always specific instructions on how to install them properly. Usually though, it's a matter of slug it into the correct slot, boot it up, and install the drivers, then reinstall.
Goodluck, and it's pretty late there in England by now. :P

Don't worry, if it's a desktop PC, you will be able to put it in. Remember, Google is your friend. Search for images and videos about how to insert them. I have no way to verbally explain how to put it in, so it's up to you.

Noooooooooo. You will not be able to put just any RAM or video card in there. In order to know what kind of RAM and video card you can put in there, we need to know what motherboard you have. It seems, though, that you bought your computer pre-assembled from a manufacturer. If this is the case, we need to know the brand and model of your computer. Then, we may be able to tell you what kind of RAM and video card will work with your motherboard.

You just said your socket is AGP, right? That solves your own problem. Get a better AGP video card and get a stick of RAM according to what Crucial told you to get.

The reason you can't find your graphics card is because you don't have one. And that is why your computer runs poorly. (Technically you do have a graphics chipset, but it's not its own dedicated card, so it's nowhere near as powerful)

There is only one kind of AGP, so either you don't have an AGP port or thats not an AGP card. If not, it could be some other now obsolete expansion slot. Look at your computer. Is it a tower (stands on its side)? Does it have a floppy drive? Does it have a turbo switch? Digital readout? Any labels on the front?

Look at the back of your computer. Find the port your monitor plugs into and count the pins on it.

Forgot to ask, did you get your computer working again?

You need to update the drivers for your graphics card. Find out the manufacturer (it should have it on the graphics card or the box it came in). Visit their site select the graphics card you own. Download the latest drivers from the page they give you. (Hopefully) done.
