Miracles DO happen, but some people work for it. If you have mad skillz (that's with the z there) and about 500 other qualities that set you apart and above the other 6 billion people on the planet, and Bungie likes you, then yes.

OK, my point is no one gets a job at Bungie by chance. It's all skillz bay-bee.

That depends.

Have you ever seen all the way through the successful design of a multiplayer level, from pre-conceptual straight through to final release?

Have you done this with a team, and have multiple finished multiplayer levels under your belt?

Do you have the flexibility to design your levels based on design rules passed down to you from your project lead?

Can you visualize your work on paper before modeling it in 3d Studio max? If so, can you handle drawing multiple orthographic views, a bird's eye view, and multiple perspectives so as to fully illustrate the concept?

Do we have a position for someone that designs only for MP, and is that position open?

If the answer to any of these questions is "no" (hint: It is), then your chances aren't too hot. Sorry.

Shishka got the job on skillz. Not on luck (maybe a little bit of luck/timing to get the job, but not to keep it.) Everyone else at Bugnie got the job based on skillz, not on luck (again, maybe to get it, but not to keep it.)

I'm not sure I completely understand. So level designers do both MP and SP? That seems a little odd to me, because the multiplayer levels feel so different. Like they were done in a different style.

As far as Halo goes, anyway. I haven't played any old school games on multiplayer in a long time, can't really remember the feeling.

Not necessarily. However, nobody just draws up concepts for maps around here. That's what he said he wanted to do.

Yeah, I know. I can't really put my finger on why multiplayer levels feel so different. Maybe it's the lack of the Covenant besides Elites?
