As of 4:50 am this morning, I could not post anything at all. This was not due to blacklist; I received repeat errors. I reported it to bnetbugs@macrohard (joke people, but yes I did report it), then I went offline. I come back a few hours later, everything unchanged, and try again... now it mysteriously works just fine.

Why am I still complaining if it works now? It seems as if my UI, myself, or my browser (FF 2.0.0.9) is going insane, because there are features that don't even exist for me anymore, and just as of today. For example, even though I have full rights in my primary group, I can't view the history viewer, it is simply just... not there. It's gone. That is an essential tool for me as an Administrator. Anyone else getting some of these problems?

Yeah, it was down for everyone. Not to worry, it's fixed now. :D

I think it had something to do with an update. (Check the Halo 3 service record changes, for example)

Anyone but Foman. He smells like cheese.

Yeah, and your profile -- you can now have your avatar display your Halo 3 character model. (shweet!)

Ah, I was unaware of this update. However, how can this explain the mysterious disappearing features and functions? And also, I know Achronos doesn't have to let us know some things may be offline, if he even knows himself, but he usually does (let us know, that is).

This is simply too strange.

There was a database problem where the site's database's CPU and disk I/O max out. For an 8 processor machine with a heavy duty RAID disk array, that's pretty impressive, if annoying. Turns out it probably was a weird memory allocation issue.

Hopefully, the configuration change we made should prevent it from happening again.

La-hoo, Za-her.

Can I give Achronos and the rest of Bungie a compliment without being accused of kissing ass? I'm gonna try.

I was trying to reply to something on the Halo 3 forum this morning, and I kept getting those darn error messages. I got pretty pissed. I was thinking "This is the second day in a row!" and "How come this isn't fixed yet?" and also "WTF?!" Then something hit me. Take a look at this page. There are no adverts. Nothing. Not even for Bungie games. All this great stuff, all of Bungie.net, is not only given to us for free, but the money to run it must come right out of Bungie's proverbial pockets. I can't imagine how much it costs to run such a massive online community. Even though this site is sometimes borked beyond belief, it still amazes me that Bungie goes through the trouble and expense of operating this site for us.

Yeah yeah, I hear you.... "The 60 bucks I laid down for the game pays for this." True, but I laid down $130 for the L.E. and I still want to say thanks. So..... thanks, Bungie.

It means Achronos has access to a computer that could kill you using it's own carefully engineered plan (if it had arms) and then save a redundant backup copy of your entire body on 30 different hard drives.

I bet he uses it to play Solitaire.

I was trying to reply to.... etc.
Though that is a bit off topic, I suppose with the nice context it can be ignored... but the decision is not mine to make. Just the original poster's opinion.

Bungie.Net has always had some bugs, some annoying, some hardly noticeable. However, the web team has always done their best. I like the fact that they have chosen not to use advertisements. I wouldn't either, if this were my company's home page. It looks much more professional, although Bungie (except Marty) is pretty much made up of adult children. It seems as if a requirement to be hired to the company is to have a sense of humor; it's admirable in the least.

When Bungie announced the pricing for Halo 3, a lot of folks complained. They all said "Why? Why, Bungie, why do you rob us so?" I on the contrary have no problem at all shelling out the clams for their games. As long as they provide me with a community, and excellent entertainment, Bungie will have my dollars no questions asked.

OMG - Gaming for the fun of it in the UK and Europe

The group history viewer option now seems to have gone AWOL from the admin panel!

Only that one time. Besides, you had it coming.

Although, just to point out, the database server has redundant mirror of itself... and we're not even talking about the database that hosts the stats. Now that database has a lot of terabytes attached to it.

We've already figured out that Achronos is some sort of higher being, that much is certain.

Vinnie, I already pointed out that the Group History Viewer is gone. I believe The Overlord had commented upon it, laying the blame to a memory allocation error. Perhaps I am mistaken? Anyway, I pointed it out already; thanks though!

The sheer brute force of all that hardware must be impressive. I'd love to have my own private rendering array; that'll be the day.

As to how the History Viewer is going to be fixed, that I don't know. Just pray to the Bungie.Net Gods that something is done. Though, it isn't like it is necessary for chapters to function correctly, I use it to cross-reference changes made to the group, and to see who has joined as well as left. It is important to me for security purposes. I have three other full control partners (it's part of our lore... don't ask) and I like to check up on them. It could give me a heads up that my group might be destroyed.

You're such a show-off. >_>

I have a server. It has like.. A few hundred GB, dual-core, and it runs on Linux. I feel weak. :(

A mirror of.. itself?

Wouldn't that require some sort of crazy trans-dimensional portal generator cannon projector or shower curtain?

If all you're doing is hosting an online game with it, depending on your connection of course... it should be just fine. I could think of many applications that I could apply to that hardware.

I'm sure they have that too. Didn't you hear about the terikilogabytes of processing they have there?

It took them years to tune the flux capacitor just right. It's difficult to calculate the equations properly to enter the space-time continuum without enveloping the earth in a giant wormhole; their sheer size and difficulty makes it impossible to solve for lesser minds. But, like I said, Achronos is a higher being.
