i've been stuck at a 9 for about 2 months, i've won countless games in a row, and was mvp for a good portion, but no level up. I lose one game and i fall back down to an 8, what the heck is that? its so annoying, i should be a 15 by now.

I guess by countless you mean four matches in a row, and by MVP, you mean three times in a week. I looked over your first four pages of game stats, and you lost more than you won in team slayer (which I assume is the playlist in question since you play it the most).

BTW, ranking up has just as much to do with who you play with and who you play against as it does with winning.

God, I love linked gamertags and the Halo 3 Service Record. Since September 25, I've been amazed at how many dishonest people are here.

I wouldn't necessarily call him a liar, but many people here do seem to have a strange perception of reality.

The ranking system is designed to work this way. Now, instead of ranking up based on consecutive wins, you will rank up until the system sees that a level 9 in this case is your highest skill at this time. In order to improve your skill you have to do many various things to show the system that you have exceeded level 9 and truly deserve to be a level 10. Also, the EXP system is not related to this issue.

I really haven't figured out the ranking system. Say what you will about Halo 2's ranking system but at least it was clear cut. Granted there was much more cheating so it was harder to tell who was legit, but there's no way I would have gotten to a 40 in Rumble Pit. On H3 I got to a 40 in Lone Wolves with little effort.

I'm not that good.

I couldn't agree more. However, I have had something of similarity to his story. I think the problem is that you might be playing with people of lower levels. When it happened to me, I was playing with friends that were attracting opponents with lower levels.

Isn't this wrong forum anyway?

In the end though, it's just a number. I haven't been involved in too many matches where the discrepancy of skill was that big, so I guess the system is doing it's job in that regard. I think that in 3-4 months the system will even be better as all these people who raced up to a level 30 or 40 will start to see their ranks drop as we all fall into the ranks we really should be at.

I also agree with Zag. I don't see these people as flat out lying, more of seeing how much people grossly exaggerate.

I would image that will be the case. Every now and then I'll play someone (in the 40's on Lone Wolves) that is leaps and bounds better than everyone else. That is who I would image deserves to be there.

In the meantime I'll just have to quit playing that playlist lest I jeopardize my eventual promotion to Colonel. My wife is making me sleep on the couch until I get promoted.

LOL, that's why I convinced Mrs. Weggie that gunnery sargeant is the highest rank.

If you manage to loose your rank 40 and go down to 39 or lower you can still get Colonel. You "current" skill level is whatever you are at this moment and it determines who you get matched against. However, your ability to go up in military rank as you gain exp is determined by whatever you highest skill level was at any given time in the past.

So if you play 400 more games and win some loose some and have a current skill in lone wolves of lets say 37 but you reach the amount of exp needed to hit colonel then you still get to be a colonel with you max skill still listed to the world as 40 :-)

The game isnt all about the Multiplayer, try the campaign, its quite tasty.

When you beat it, come back and play some more multi, I bet you your skill will start to go up.

I had actually wondered that. But really I don't care so much. Sure it's nice to go up in skill or rank but I try not to take it so seriously. Bad for my complexion.
